Picked up a C220d AMG Line Auto Saloon on Friday as my third car (run around) - replacing a F10 (latest model) 520d M Sport - the C Class is miles ahead in all aspects. The interior fit and finish is amazing. LED headlights as standard as are Sat Nav, Heated Seats, USB Interface, Voice Control, Fake good quality leather everywhere even on the dash and the usual AMG kit - it's bloody brilliant and makes the 3 series look dated already. It drives great too and the engine is still new but doing 50 mpg already. Very smooth ride and the engine feels better than the BMWs to me.
Good buy Im happy with it
I had a good poke around one today, to maybe replace my W204 C250. Didn't get as far as driving it, the faux ipad with the huge surround plonked in the middle of the dash just looked wrong, and non-intuative. Maybe a small thing, but it put me off. And runflats only, not even the option of a spacesaver!Good buy Im happy with it

The screen is great and you'll soon get used to it...they had balls to do something different I guess ;-)
Run Flats are fine - my 5 Series was all over the place but this one rides really well and I am certainly surprised at the ride quality with run flats.
I guess the screen is just fashion, seems to be becoming common across many cars. If we all liked the same thing the world would be a pretty grey placeRun Flats are fine - my 5 Series was all over the place but this one rides really well and I am certainly surprised at the ride quality with run flats.
Runflats aren't for me, I live in the middle of nowhere, and punctures always seem to trash the tyres for me - lose the sidewall. I've been stranded once, and I'm reluctant to repeat the experience...
Picked up the demo C220 estate AMG premium line today, I've got to take it back tomorrow morning. I had the 320d msport estate yesterday and the merc makes the bmw feel very old, more than the one generation that it is. Nice ride in comfort mode, plenty of go, what seems to be great fit and finish, although I think the high gloss black centre console could soon look very bad if care isn't taken with keys etc. Tons of toys, all standard with the premium pack. Looked really well in white with the 19" wheels but I will probably have 18" and a grey colour! I just hope the numbers stack up, bmw was £466/month. I will find out tomorrow.
Perhaps going slightly against the tide in this thread, but on my firm's car choice website the C Class seems to come out very well in terms of spec for money compared to my other options, which are based on lease price. I was very pleasantly surprised to see that a C Class is even an option, let alone a decently spec'd one, especially since previously Mercedes wasn't even allowed regardless of lease price, but the policy has changed recently.
I was using a colleague's 'online configurator' who has a slightly lower budget than me so I could only see which models were in his budget, but the C220 AMG line with a 7 speed auto estate was well under his limit. Unless prices change rapidly, in the next month or so I'll be looking for an extended test drive though our firm's agent, just to see if I fancy the next three years behind the wheel of one.
By comparison a 320d Luxury touring auto is slightly over budget (though I can pay a certain amount towards if I really want to) and a 5 series touring auto would have to be a 518d SE spec. Since I've had an A4 previously and currently have a 320d E91 model, so I quite fancy a change and a C Class would be completely different to my previous cars.
The only possible issue is that there used to be something in our car policy about not being able to have over 2000cc (though this would also mean I could claim extra for business miles which if anything would be a bonus since going just over 2000cc probably doesn't use the extra 30% or so of fuel). If this policy is still valid, then I may have to go to the C200...perhaps this might be a bit too much of a drop in terms of performance from the current 184PS 320d?

I've short-listed a 250 Estate for a new lease in six months (along with the 5 2.0D Touring). I'm puzzled by the reports that the engine sounds unrefined as I'm currently driving the E-Class 250CDI and it sounds as smooth as any four-pot oil-burner has a right to sound.
C250 CDI has a great motor. I had one as a loaner recently (W204) and it has forced me to rethink 4-cyl diesels. The only coarseness was at start-up. On accelleration it actually sounds *good*. Seat-of-the pants pulling power impression was that it goes nearly as well as the 350 I have, but is more economical. Would seem to be the pick of the range...Picked up my C250 Sport Premium this week and so far I'm very happy. Screen is not a problem, but having not bought a car for 10 years I'm blown away by how much kit is on it. Very early days, but all positive as far as I'm concerned.
Also my first time with M-B. Tried it against BMW 3 series and made my choice. Only issue was getting a decent price from the dealer that didn't involve taking finance.

I have the same engine in my E300. Does it sound good? Not in the slightest!!! Hand your PH badge in at the door.
It bit rough at idle, no question. But on power in the 2-3000 rpm range, it's got a nice throaty sound to it. And on the Autobahn, it sounded nearly indistinguishable from my 350 CDI. Nice motor.Gassing Station | Mercedes | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
