The wife's ML320 is due some new tyres, it's Pirelli summer stuff that's on there now. It's the family wagon, driven sensibly, so wet/cold/winter performance and longevity are more important than on-the-limit dry weather grip.

I'd prefer not to have two sets of tyres so thought about getting some all-season ones but they're hard to come by in the 265/45/R20 size. Anyone know of any decent rubber for all seasons in that size? Failing that, any winter tyres that are known to last OK and behave well in the (relatively) warmer months?

I use Michelin Latitude Tour HPs.

M+S tyre but still classed as summer, no snipes on it and handles really well, but seemed to cope with the snow as well.

However, I had Dunlop Winter Sport 4D's on the C Class and that was unstoppable, and still felt fine come the summer, so next time I reckon I will use those instead.

I have had vredstein wintrac 4 extremes on my ML for a year now. They were excellent in winter as added a lot of traction, weren't noisy and actually improved car's performance. I had planned to swap them over in the summer, but have left them on. They have been great and hardly showing any wear!

Sadly, I don't think they come in your size, but would certainly recommend them.

If you're going to leave winters on, please do check them PROPERLY from time to time.

I wish I'd taken some photos, but through laziness I left a set on a BMW one summer and there was VERY significant wear on the inner edges and (more worrying) signs of delamination that could only be observed with the wheels off or the vehicle on a ramp. It was not a pretty sight!
