I've extended but did took the policy with a £250 excess - it was around £250 less than a policy with zero excess. So, I'd only be worse off if I had to make two claims in the next year but I think worth the risk as I get the feeling (firmly touching wood) these cars don't go wrong too often.

I'll keep mine serviced at MB - I'm sure and indie would do just as good a jib (if not better) but I just feel it's one of those cars that really should maintain a manufacturers warranty. I also believe you only get the ongoing 30-year Mobilo support if it's been serviced at MB.
