Good evening,

After leaving my 2014 E400 with pan roof in the work car park during todays storms I was horrified to return to my car this evening and find all 4 windows down and the roof open......as you can probably imagine the interior is drenched:-(

Has this ever happened to anyone else? Its going back to the dealer on Weds but worried it'll happen again.

Very unimpressed!

Can I use this here?: pmsl

Op, as unfortunate as the situation is, you must have sat on the key or put it somewhere the inlock button was depressed.

Not quite the same as you describe but I will throw this in as it might be relevant. I have Keyless Go on a W204 C class. I once had it go into "convenience opening" mode of its own accord. In my case I was approaching the locked car with the key in my pocket. When I was about 1m or so away ie nowhere near the door handle all 4 windows and the sunroof start opening automatically. It was a pretty warm day and the car was parked in full sun, so at the time I just assumed it was some "feature" of the Keyless Go kicking in to help ventilate the interior of the car. But given your situation I now wonder whether there might be some electrical gremlin at play which triggered itself as you locked your car and walked away?

I don't think it would be possible to accidentally hold the unlock button long enough to open all 4 windows, it requires a fairly deliberate action.....its awkward to do when you want to do it! I carry the keys in my hand (I hate things in my trouser pockets!) and leave them on my desk all day......I just cannot imagine it would be possible to depress the key accidentally for a sustained period.

Funnily enough my partner did exactly the same with her Golf. Came back to find all the windows wide open. It is possible.

We disabled the 'comfort open' feature and have never had a problem since.

I have to agree this would take some doing as you have to hold the specific open button firmly for several seconds to open all windows & roof.
This may have no relevance but many years ago I had a car that used to open the sunroof when locking the central locking & the fault turned out to be a faulty battery that had come to the end of its life.
Another thought is have you noticed any dampness in the front floor carpets. The water drains under front scuttle can block up with leaves & debris causing water to build up & eventually enter through things like the heater box inlets which in turn then soaks the interior floor. Down each side of the car under the carpets are the vehicles wiring looms which contain things like CAN connectors for all the electrical systems on the car & if these get soaked in water they will short & cause weird & wonderful faults on your car.
It's only a couple of ideas that may help you to sort problem but you'll probably be best to get car plugged into Mercedes star diagnosis at a dealer or independent to see if anything shows up.

Apologies for last post as I didn't register that your car is a 2014 model so unless the cars been stood around under a forest for the last 6 months my suggestions will be of no help to you.
Just a thought - your car doesn't have some sort of function that allows windows & roof to open if the outside temp reaches a certain temp ? The way cars are now you can program them to do virtually anything !
Sorry I can't be of more help but if I find anything else out I'll let you know?
