amg is on a roll since they went solo. I admire their audacity taking the fight to Porsche with the gt and from what I've read they are on target for knocking off smug 911 owner's off their best everyday sports car perch. amg's lunacy has always been appealing whether through ridiculously large engines mated to a 5 speed box, doors that open upwards, limiting engines with ONLY 1,000nm etc. now it's almost as if the amg engineers have suddenly become adults when designing the gt and are aiming for pure performance in a very usable package. I can't wait to see this car with ceramic brakes and sports suspension go head to head with the 911 gts! Well done to those who have ordered one over the 911!

That is the white interior, which I suspect will look awesome. I would love it, but I had white in my M6 and it was a nightmare in reality.

Anjum, you say the car had silver leather and silver stitching - did this silver stitching extend to the dash top?

No worries - you guys are going to sell out! You will get new customers into you cars - no problem. In fact the only problem you will have is that you won't build enough of them for the first 12-18 months.......

It sounded awesome - I loved it. and it looked soooooo much better in the flesh than in the pictures! You guys should just get some video of the car in loud mode (or with the exhaust flaps open), stick it on a USB and send it to everyone you know who has a pointy Italian steed - or a fast beetle - and see what happens......

I'll post the video if I can work out how to....tomorrow....

Probably. I can get a car around Feb 2016 (or so I'm told by my dealer but will confirm further this week) so I'm just deciding whether I want to wait that long or get something like a 991 Targa in a few months time instead.

I really love the idea of the AMG so think waiting is probably the thing to do but will see.

id love one but only do 5k miles across 3 cars and kids are 7 and < 1

Anjum, thanks for the thorough report from MB world. Wish I could have seen it. I saw the yellow one there a while ago but this didn't help much.

I'm at the limit of my comfort zone spending this sort of money on a car (I'm not a rich multi car owner like some) but I have seen quite a lot of family and friends pass away at ridiculously young ages over the past year and I think 2015 is my "f@ck it, just do it while you can" year.

I have not done any big mileage trips for a few years but think the AMG is just the type of car to get me back into taking some long Euro trips, especially France and Italy.

Also - I did ask - the starter button will be moved to the right hand side - the car at MB world was LHD and the start button was on the left hand side.......so all good!

As long as you can leave the exhaust in Sport mode permanently I would be happy.

So fed up of cars that have too many settings that you need to change all of the time.

The good thing about the C63 (W204) is the exhaust is in angry mode ALL of the time and get's even angrier on the over-run in manual gearbox / S+.

Fecking exhaust valves - get rid of them!!

I got a call today saying I have to lock down my spec this week....but the car is still scheduled for September.

Having spent the last couple of months adamant I was having red, when push comes to shove I've bottled it.....the flat red is a bit 'plain' and the Hyacinth red is a bit of a risk given I've not seen one and it varies hugely in all the pictures I've seen - on one hand it can look great but equally, it can take on far too much of an orangey/brown shade for my liking.

Going through all the other options wasn't any easier - my SLS was black and we already have a white car so I fancy a change. I don't normally like silver although a silver GT does look outstanding in pictures. So, here's what I've decided:

Brilliant Blue Metallic
Exclusive Nappa Saddle Brown Leather (read: tan), inc. Performance Seats
AMG Black Diamond Trim

AMG Forged Alloy Wheels (silver)
Ceramic Brakes

Premium Package
Driving Asst Package (only because by the time my car comes this will include radar cruise)
Night Package
Dynamic Plus Package
Burmester High End Sound System


It should look something along the lines of the Mercedes in these pictures, without the silver trim
