It's a small world!Back to the original question, yes I would very much like to come over for a blast when you get your demonstrator in. Andrew has my mobile number or you can contact me on here.
Thanks!
Interesting to see thee the chats about red versus blue. I have one coming May and am still undecided on colour. Provisionally silver / black with standard wheels and the premium pack. But .... I just bought a 1:48 model in Grey (as I've only seen a yellow one up close at MB world and wanted to check its proportions as I dont think the car photos very well.) I now think grey's really nice. I don't want matte, so metallic Grey is now favourite, with the diamond pack to add a wee bit of bling.

I also considered 991 Targa S for a bit of touring and wind in the hair but think I'll take coupe now and hope for a roadster in a couple of years.

I went for the Selenite grey on mine too - and had a similarly difficult time deciding colour!url]|http://thumbsnap.com/tnzmWCMW

Incidentally, has anyone seen / heard any data on the laptime round Nurburgring - this will be interesting when journo's compare it to 911 Turbo. I see the new Cayman GT4 is doing it in 7:40 which is pretty quick, but I think I read the GT was in that ballpark - anyone seen anything?
MBUK Have got some extra allocation for build slots this year - another 20ish in Sept/Oct, obviously all GTS's.
Gary our demo should be here in 4/5 weeks if you want to pop in for a blast. [/quote
Matc - I am dealing with Mali and have a GT on order. No mention of a demo car coming in so really keen to see this. When will it be around so I can arrange a test drive slot?
Scott

Don't think I've seen anything official, but recall reading a time of 7:30 ... did a quick search and found the article below ...http://www.motorauthority.com/news/1095112_mercede...
Having said that, I'm pretty sure I've also seen an article somewhere that mentioned a time "in the 30's"

I'll make sure you get a call when ours arrives.
I've just been watching the review of the GT on Top Gear.
It looks great inside but I'm very disappointed with the noise. IMO it sounds like a synthesized v8, rather than the classic yank hammer roar that the 6.2 in the sls made.
It seems to handle well, faster round the track than a GTR and sls black series is impressive indeed.
Good luck to every body that's ordered one.

It definitely doesn't sound synthesised in person - OK, it's no SLS but it's not far off and if anything, it's louder. However, loudness is not a measure of success (as I found out with the truly diabolical sounding F80 M3) but compared to BMW's efforts with their latest M engines (even the decent sounding M5/6 TT V8), the AMG is on another level.
That Top Gear lap time.....I'm surprised not much has been said about it yet because it is, quite frankly, outrageous!
I knew it would be good based on what's written elsewhere and at first sight it even looked a bit untidy going round the track. But a 1:17.5 is faster than almost anything else this side of a hypercar. It was also up to 2 seconds faster than a 458, Enzo, GT2, 599, Carrera GT....and when you compare it to similarly priced cars it's around 4 seconds faster than an R8 V10 (admittedly done in the damp), 997 Turbo, 997 GT3 etc. This is all despite the GT being either significantly less powerful and/or less track-biased than most of the aforementioned so it appears AMG have got the chassis absolutely spot on. Roll on September.....
(You can take comfort Paul that the Macca is still a good second faster than the GT Probably the only 'reasonably' priced car that is)

My wife, who wouldn't look twice at a ferrari thought it very nice. I think it's good value considering it's true competition. That lap time was impressiveThat Top Gear lap time.....I'm surprised not much has been said about it yet because it is, quite frankly, outrageous!
