MB Chelsea didn't have the designo grey's when I was at the showroom giving them my number plate retention certificate.....however - hot off the press there will be a AMG GT-S at Mercedes world tomorrow Tuesday 20th for one day only. Not sure what colour it will be (I hope it's not that horrid yellow......) - but I understand it's the edition 1 model.

I'm going to pop down tomorrow morning to have a look with my other half......

Just a heads up folks. The one at MB World today is not an Edition 1 as hoped, it's a normal GT S finished in the designo iridium silver magno(matt) with a grey/black leather interior.

Also to say it is only here for today, it returns back to Germany afterwards. There is hope that MB World will have an early car to display from around mid-March. More to follow in June.

Just back from MB world. As Petrolveins says - it wasn't the Edition 1 (which I'm very glad - not my cup of tea!) - but the Designo Iridium Silver Magno looked truly magnificent - and will look amazing in the sunlight - and I suspect in a flat light. Which is good - as that is what colour I have ordered. The car had the standard wheels, with Steel brakes and red callipers. I've spec'd the forged alloys with carbon ceramic brakes. That means you have to have the gold callipers - which I have asked if I ken get resprayed to a different colour. The car also had the panoramic roof ( I think the premium pack was installed on the car- which looked great - and from the inside really opened up the "cockpit" - with a manually sliding cover to block off the sunlight. The car had the exterior carbon pack - which included the wing mirrors, the rear diffuser and the front splitter. The CF looked good and almost subtle - not to over the top - which worked well.

The interior, as mentioned previously, was a black/mid grey, with silver stitching. The MB folks weren't sure if the seats were the standard or sports seats, but based on what I saw, looked were actually the sports seats.....go figure! The interior had High Gloss Carbon Fibre - in the centre of the tunnel, the doors, door pockets and kick plates. The Speedo/Tacho had Carbon effect weave in the centre of dials. The steering wheel was leather and alcantara - and felt really good to touch. The outside of the central tunnel was a high gloss black, which with the 8 buttons/switch looked very good and felt of a high quality/satisfying to the touch. I'm not sure about the durability/scratch resistance of this high gloss black finish - especially if you have a ring/jewellery etc. But it was a "nice place to be" - it felt "snug" - but was actually quite roomy. There was also a luggage brace behind the seats - which was body coloured (I think) - but I've ordered mine in Carbon, of course!

Then at 12:15 they started the engine - initially in quiet mode (i.e. normal mode) - and it sounded good to me - like a refined, not too contrived, V8 burble. They revved it a little bit, still in quiet mode (the car wasinside - upstairs on the second floor) and it sounded good - very purposeful, yet without too much theatricals. If you owned an SLS/AMG Black Series - you may be a little disappointed - but not too much. Then midway through - they put car into Sport mode (basically opening the butterfly valves/exhaust flaps - or noisy mode) - and it sounded magnificent! Immediately the difference was noticeable. It was much deeper, like an angry baritone with a bad chest cold. And when I say that I was surprised by the noise - I'm not joking - the car was spitting, crackling, popping on the overrun - I've got a video - I'll figure out how to post it today! You'll love it. Oh - the guys also raised the spoiler which, to mind at least, looks so much better than the fixed rear spoiler. I approve!

There were a couple of questions about the various greys/magno's etc. For the first time - I saw the whole selection of colour swabs - and Iridum Designo Magno looked fantastic - as did the Black(s). I think even the white would work well - with the night pack and the black forged alloys. I think that MB has a hit on it's hands - and as much as I love the SLS - the GT-S makes the SLS looked really quite antiquated and dated - which REALLY surprised me.

I'll post some pics up (the car was under LED's and I only had my iPhone - I didn't take my camera - which was a mistake....).

Cheers

A

Glad you enjoyed the car and the noise Anjum, I was actually the chap who started it up and revved it for you guys. Only clicked after you left who you were when I overheard you mention some of your other cars.
No worries - you guys are going to sell out! You will get new customers into you cars - no problem. In fact the only problem you will have is that you won't build enough of them for the first 12-18 months.......

It sounded awesome - I loved it. and it looked soooooo much better in the flesh than in the pictures! You guys should just get some video of the car in loud mode (or with the exhaust flaps open), stick it on a USB and send it to everyone you know who has a pointy Italian steed - or a fast beetle - and see what happens......

I'll post the video if I can work out how to....tomorrow....

Night!

I bottled it today....and changed my order to Hyacinth Red. I've spent the last 3 months having mentally decided on red so the relatively last minute change to blue caused too much confusion for me laugh

What concerned me was some of the pictures I've seen of a blue car in the 'wild' made it look too dark and, well, a bit plain. Admittedly some pictures of the blue looked outstanding, but typically these were the promo or press shots. Also, I didn't think flat red was an option on a car of this value - whilst it looks decent in all the promo shots, it's very ordinary when you see normal pictures of the car.

I've seen enough pictures of Hyacinth Red in different light to know what to expect - it can look a bit darker than I'd like but in good light, it seems to look outstanding. Ultimately, at their worst, I don't think the red looks as dull as the blue. If only the SLS's shade of metallic red was available rolleyes

I've kept the interior spec the same (quilted saddle brown/tan) but I did change the wheels back to the standard item rather than the upgraded forged multi spokes - I think the thinner longer pokes of the standard wheel suit the red car better.
Phew! Crisis over smile

Trust me - it sounds awesome in the flesh! I'm pretty sure that the 488GTB will sound amazing....especially at 8K revs......

I'm getting bored waiting - but at least my 458 Speciale is being delivered at the beginning of March - so I can play in that for a bit......

I'm going to Geneva - specifically to see the Aventador SV - I'm really hoping it not the car that is doing the rounds on the internet - I suspect it won't be (hopefully)......and I'll check in on the GT-S when I'm there.

Has anyone gone for the high end Burmeister sound system? It the final piece I'm deciding on but I don't know if it's worth it.

I'm going for the ordinary GT S wheels too and I agree I like the part black versions on the Edition 1 although I believe it's easy to have them customized to look the same.
I ordered the high end stereo.....

Designo Iridium Silver Magno for me! Going to get the car painted corrected and paint protected by Topaz - rather than use the MB stuff......

Speciale is here and getting level 5 Paint Correction and Full Self Healing Paint Protection Film - and they need 10 days to get the car perfect. Pick it up on Thursday 19th - then head out to SPA on the 20th - bedding in brakes and tyres on the way........

I've nearly forgotten about this car!

I picked up the 458 Speciale a couple of weeks ago - and haven't stop driving it - We've been to Spa is the soaking rain - we've been to Zandoorf and are off to Donnington Park on Tuesday - and then back to Spa again!

Flying out to NYC to see if can get dibbs on a Ford GT - At Geneva it looked nearly as magnificent as the Aventador SV - which is coming Q4 this year!

Off to Monaco in the Aventador Roadster - which I think I'm going to keep - I love it.....which is at the end of May - and then the GTS should arrive.....

I wondering if the GTS will get a look in......... getmecoat

Just back from another Spa track day in the speciale - and there is a swanky mag from Mercedes Benz! I haven't gone though it yet, but it feels nice and smells expensive.

I'm loving the speciale, but think that GT-S will make a great daily driver! Not too long to go now..... smile

That does look good.

I ended up ordering McLaren 540C but have to say I may still be persuaded by the GT.
Really? Wow! I've just cancelled my 675 LT order. Too bland - and at 37mm extra does not make it a long tail in my eyes! I'm sure the performance will be EPIC - but it's too generic for me. Good to see an English company up there - and with a great products on the horizon........

Good Luck with you 540/570!

They have a blue one in MB Chelsea. These are the normal seats. And a couple of views of the sea of bonnet...

I popped in to look at the demo at Chelsea on Saturday. Looked okay - I think it was spec'd at around £130K on the road. Looks better in the metal than the photo's suggest. I dropped in - spent ages looking for a parking sport for my Roadster - they had no idea who I was (the sales guys that I ordered my car from was busy selling a B-series....) - and they weren't over friendly - so I just jumped in and started poking all of the buttons - started the engine and put it into loud/sports+ mode. Got some attention pretty sharpish!

I explained that I had just got back from Auto Italia at Brooklands - popped into MB World - and had to go and see the demo (which was locked and hidden away in the demo car park) - so spend 1 minute before I headed back into town. I then told the guy that I had ordered one - and it was a lot more than his demo - and suddenly his demeanour changed - especially when Karl turned up and greeted me - apologising for not getting to me earlier......

Not impressed with MB so far - they still don't have all colour options/interior options to review.

They could've been a bit more adventurous with the spec of their demo/display car - On the interior I mean. Either with alcantara with contrast stitching or a lighter leather like tan or cream. Possibly even a two colour interior. Also lacking carbon on the centre console it looks like.

Very poor that the salesman doesnt treat you with more respect - how do they know what you have/what your spending power is? Odd but seems to be a trait a lot of salesman seem to have.

Hope your experience improves with MB Anjum. Any closer to choosing how you're having yours exterior paint / interior colour scheme?
All spec'd up - due in June - Details at the start of this thread!

Saw one in Monaco (Edition 1) - I'm not convinced about the looks in the flesh. Perhaps it was the spec - it's not a race car - and the bloody spoiler looks ridiculous on such a pedestrian car. I want to take delivery and then make a decision - as I'm sure that after the write up in EVO - I'm gonna like it?
