Do you actually have a pathological aversion to "standard norm" ? Is it a physical compulsion that forces you to go down the route marked "buggering about with it" ?

Standard? Normal?? What's that then? laugh

I'd say more mental than physical...they're just some thoughts going round in my mind whilst I'm slowly pull my hair out waiting for it. Although we all know where my thoughts often lead me.....

I've been toying with the idea of retro-fitting mine with the Edition 1 front lip, splitters and side skirts - I really like the look of these and I think they particularly suit the flat red.

Whats peoples thoughts on these aero add-ons, and do you reckon it'll have any impact on how it drives (e.g. will the front bits require the fixed wing to provide the right aero balance and high speed stability)? Thats assuming MB would even sell these parts separately anyway.
Hmmmm ... really? Not for me, I was never a fan of the edition 1 body kit (thought the rear wing in particular looked "Honda Integra track day special trying too hard") but that's obviously just a personal view. In fairness, I can see the attraction of the side skirts on a red car. I absolutely haven't a clue on any aero impact but would be amazed if MB would sell you the parts separately?

Not so sure Palmball?

Ii think the edition 1 looks a bit shouty - tries too hard to be a black series/GT3. When it's just a cooking GT-S.

The body kit is subjective, but I think your in a good position by having an early order in. If you don't like you can spec another one - and there will be more options available then! God! What will you be like then! smile

Going to pop into MB Chelsea to find out what is happening today or tomorrow......

I really would only consider this on a red car, as the black highlights contrast well. But maybe you're right chaps - I'm not really a fan of the rear wing but I do like the side skirts....although they probably wouldn't look right without the front bits. Regardless, I'm sure once it arrives I'll be delighted with it just as it comes!

Morning all. Sorry, busy weekend! Put 450 miles on it so I'm halfway there but it's painful! Can feel the power underneath but just can't explore it at yet.

First impressions of the car are great. Scalpel like accuracy through corners. Journos were moaning about the light steering but I like it. My worries about both the ride and the size of the bonnet were unfounded; got used to it very quickly. Also the visibility is fine compared to many other competitors and all the stuff about the giant A pillars - not an issue.

I felt stupid musing about the Aston, as this is great car and I'm very happy with it so far. It gets a lot of attention as jmg said. A few people taking pics. Very pleased with the colour too - sparkles in the sun.

Couple of niggles - the speed display in the middle LCD is in km/h and it seems I can't change it. Some EU regulation that speed needs to be in mph and kph. Also every time it goes past a road sign it displays it on the little screen - need to work out how to turn that off. Quite funny that the sat nav has all golf courses marked on there. Very Mercedes. And I still can't work out how to turn the sat nav woman off.

I'll try and post some pics.

Great to hear you're enjoying it. Nice pictures!

Let me see if I can help on your niggles ...
km/h display: There is indeed a mode that shows mph ... if you look under "trip", it's the option between "from reset" and the total miles you've covered. MPH is also shown on one of the AMG screens (the one with the boost gauge on it) I think.

Turning off the signs: If you go into the settings menu, then select assistance, it's the first option (traffic sign assist) and you can just turn it off with the ok button.

Sat nav woman: Easiest way is when she's talking to press the mute button on the steering wheel. You can also use linguatronic and say "guidance instructions off". I suspect there must be a way to make her permanently muted, but I've not looked for it.

Hope that helps?

Best,
Jason

Thanks Jason, this is very helpful. And gives me an excuse to take it for an unnecessary drive later. Mute button when she talks - why didn't I think of that. There are so many menus...

I think I found the alteration on the trip computer for the large speedo readout, it's the one that is always there just at the top - in km/h. Then I found this http://forums.mercedesclub.org.uk/showthread.php?t... which says it can only be changed by some keeno with a laptop.

Anjum - I was thinking about some sort of paint protection for the car ... I seem to remember you mentioning you were having something done to yours. Any advice?

I just found an App that has the whole proper owners manual in there and you can search it. Should sort out most of my remaining quibbles. https://itunes.apple.com/gb/app/mercedes-benz-guid...
