What do you think of the colour orbtar?

I originally ordered this but bottled it and went for red when I had to lock down the spec a few weeks ago, Mainly because I hadn't seen the blue on the car in real life (and because what I really wanted was a red one!)

It wasn't my choice of spec as it was a last minute cancelled order but the colour is great while it's clean. Blue seems to be one of those colours that look fab when clean but nowhere near as nice once dirty. It drives superbly and sounds really good but the steering does seem very light, maybe there is a setting to adjust, I haven't fully familiarised myself with the controls which do seem overcomplicated, may need to sit down for an hour and read the online manual!

No, I'm afraid theres no steering setting - it's light.

It's one thing I noticed at first but didn't after I was into my second day driving it. That said, whilst I like the direct steering, it's one area that I think I preferred on the SLS (one of my favourite aspects of the SLS was the steering).

I thought exactly the same (about the steering) when I first drove the car ... but have got used to the lightness surprisingly quickly. The speed and directness of the steering is superb when you're pressing on ... it'll be interesting to see what that's like when I'm covering a bigger mileage (am planning a trip down to AMG in September).

Orbtar - great colour ... looks excellent

Congrats Orbtar, looks great.

I concur on the steering. It is light and not as direct as say a 911 but it does feel scalpel accurate. From a personal point of view I like it as I drive in London a lot and it makes navigating that big nose around child's-play.

So the car is built and ready - but is still in Germany. MB Chelsea are useless. I received an email saying that my sales guy is busy from 4:15 - not in tomorrow - so will try and find out whats going on on Friday. I'm on the point of saying fk - keep it. No other dealer has ever treated me this poorly.

They can't even tell me why it's late - or when it's likely to be coming over.

Am I being unreasonable? I cannot believe how crap this is.

For the product you're buying its not unreasonable at all imo, Im not saying you should necessarily be treated by royalty but surely those kind of questions should be easily answered?
If you were spending £120-£130k on a porshce or Aston would you have a much better experience?
Sack the GT off and Get a 570s instead biggrin hahaa

The car is £143K - not the most I've ever spent on a car - but no dealer - NONE - has behaved this poorly. I'm used to dealing with Italian car companies - and yes - some car deliveries are late - some are early - and if you're very, very lucky - they actually turn up on time! But they always communicate with you - good news or bad.

I'm not asking to be given the red carpet treatment - but they have now truly pissed me off - and frankly I typically vote with my wallet - I really want to like the GT-S - but I think MB have got a bit of a repetitional problem that they always blamed Chrysler for - which is clearly no longer the case.

I get the impression that some dealers, in more wealthy areas, just see customers as a nice money machine and not a lot more.

I've seen it before first hand.

I've specifically noticed this and not only with car dealers....really high-end brands tend to 'get it' but in affluent areas you tend to find brands more used to dealing with everyday folk get lazy because it's all too easy for them. They just don't get that fact that everyone, rich or poor, should be treated like they're a valued individual. All this is rarely a problem in the ghetto that is the East Midlands wink

Sounds like a crap experience Anjum frown

Back to the steering, it'd be nice to have the opportunity to 'get used to the steering' like some of you lucky sods tongue out But what I do like is the ability to steer the car 270 degrees around mini roundabouts with just 1/4 turn of lock.

Sorry to hear you're having such a bad experience Anjum - Not that it'll be any consolation, but I can only say that I have had the opposite experience at Brooklands.

Having said all that, I think that the information flow from Germany to all of us (as early customers) has been very disappointing.

Not sure on the sales side, but Brooklands service department seem very good (certainly on SLS). My SLS is due a second service next month and Brooklands is the only place that I would consider sending it to.

Parked side by side last night to give a friend a choice of Prom transport. Looks like baby brother is actually big brother.

Lovely cars all..esp like the comparison with the SLS - the GT really does look like the elder brother.

Having recently sold my Gallardo, the AMG GT-S is on the top of my list for replacement. Having seen the poor feedback about dealers, if I decide to go ahead with an order, it will be with a dealer I know in Yorkshire - current delivery times being quoted are March 2016 with a 1.5% discount....which on a £100k+ car is still better than nothing...
