I've no idea what is going on with the German manufacturers at the moment. Porsches handling of the GT4 launch has been a complete fiasco from start to finish.

Finally - some news - the car is in Chelmsford - why? Getting PDI'd - so should be able to pick it up end of week. I'll believe that when I see it.......

I'm never buying another Merc again. I just hope the car is worth the wait.

I did say never - and from what I can make out - it's a combo of both MB and dealers being a bit st. Clearly - other brands DO much better. Good to see that some loyalty in the MB house - but frankly your welcome to it.

Im still technically a student, so a tad out of my league biggrin but generally speaking, if the general consensus that AMG dealers communications with customers is st, they are st. Haven't really heard of a good report as yet? Contrast that with say Mclaren on a sale and it seems to be quite the opposite (through official Mclaren dealers either new or used).

Just a shame, as the GT/GT-S as a product looks sensational, just their service, sales and support isn't up to scratch and it appears they're missing the mark by quite some margin.

Hope the cars worth it and you don't flip it within a week! rofl

I think it's par for the course with dealers who are mainstream on the whole but have a niche division.

When I had my Audi R8 the entire sales and service side was identical to that dealing with the entire Audi product line. So the R8 'experience' was totally dependant on the Audi dealership as a whole. Good Audi dealers gave a good service, bad ones did not. It mattered not that I had a £90k, top of the range sports car - it was just an Audi.

Merc and AMG are no different. Although I've ordered a McLaren now, I'm still waiting for a promised call from the Merc dealer to see the GT as they do not know I'm not in the market anymore. This from a dealer I've purchased from before.

Had a fantastic experience with MB Nottingham for what it's worth..

Having driven the car around the streets of London over the weekend feedback is as follows. Suspension needs to be kept in Comfort where it's still taught with a sporty feeling. S S+ and RACE make the car bounce around on the motorway and spine shattering rough on the pothole filled streets of central London. Comfort mode keeps the car glued to the tarmac.
Acceleration is just phenomenal - it doesn't let up - SWIM managed 130mph on a busy M1. Car broke no sweat. Breaks are easily up to the task. Ceramics would be a waste unless tracking. Interior, leathers and comforts with premium package are without fault. I don't have the sports seats, just the norm, and they are more comfortable than my old Porsche 991 Carrera S.

Word of caution - make sure you set centre display to MPH - it's difficult to read the speedo and the car will do 90 whilst feeling like 30.

The attention it demands is unparalleled - Non stop people coming over to talk about the car. Whilst observing parked car from a distance, a dozen people took pics / selfies in quick succession. White van men have proclaimed a distinct "like" for the car. Cars are courteous in letting me in / pass. Demands respect where ever it goes. Admired not hated.

Surprisingly efficient when driven softly.

The sound - WOW! Even at standstill it has a commanding burble. In S+ or RACE it sounds like Hell itself opens up to unleash it's fury. It's terrifying - LOVE IT!!

The width deserves a mention - it's Hummer wide! A nightmare to park - and threading through the narrow city roads takes some skill.

Ended the weekend with a playdate in the car park of Selfridges :P

Yey! The car has just arrived at the dealers - should be able to pick it up tomorrow! Just need to pay for it now smile

I'm really surprised how little information the dealers actually get from MB. I popped in yesterday - to relay my dissatisfaction - and to be fair to MB Chelsea - I've had a few emails from MB Chelsea today - organising a test drive - which I haven't done yet - and to tell me that my car is here! Sadly I'm stuck in the city right now - but will try and get back later this afternoon.

Faith restored in MB Chelsea - I just think that MB are not very good at communicating?

Excellent. Interested to hear your opinion compared to your other motors. I've done 1,500 miles now. Still very happy with it. And still amazed by the attention it gets. Filmed by people from their cars, people running after it to take photos.

Always wanted to try Anglesea. Looks good on the Evo vids.

Couldn't agree more on the attention front ... staggering. What's most pleasing / surprising is that the attention is exclusively positive

Yes it's always positive.... Taxi drivers, lorry drivers saying 'nice motor mate', 'what's it like?' thumbs up, always let out at junctions etc. My mother was over at the weekend and was rather baffled by it. Totally different from when I got a lift in a mates Ferrari. I'd describe the attention as more Aston like if that makes sense. As it's a totally new car I guess people are curious. I find it funny but very slightly disconcerting too as I like to generally slip under the radar. So I either stare at the footwell or hide!

Just started to follow this thread as i took the GT S out for a test drive yesterday locally. I have had a R8 V10 and 911 Turbo S Cab last 5 years and due to turn in my 911 in approx Feb'16, so looking for the next thrill. i always change manufacturers every 2-3 years so saw this one coming + as i follow F1 and go to a number of races each year where this is now used as the safety / pace car upon seeing 2 of them in pits at Silverstone, got me more interested.

Its either this, an Aston or going up a gear into Mclaren / Ferrari territory which i don't wish to do. Coming out of the Porsche into the GT S i was very impressed with the interior, how snug it feels and was certainly not lacking in pace be it slower 0-60 then the Turbo S but who's grumbling over .XX secs. The interior coupled with 'the' sound was what will sell it for me, the sound was just immense and the crackle and pops on the overrun i have not heard in a car since the days i had my Tuscan S 15 years ago !!

So will need to decide over the next month or 2 if need to get my order in for March'16 so the salesmen tells me.

You can see from my pic that my last 2 cars have been white but i can't help thinking the GT S would also look good in white with the black wheels, black wing mirrors etc etc...

On the colour options i didn't see Silver Arrow?!? I'm new when it comes to Mercs but the salesman said the car i test drove was silver arrow colour but its not on the option list...?!? I also liked, don't knock me, the fixed wing in replace of the moving wing but hear its not available only on this edition1 car?

I also wanted a car that wasn't too noticeable on the streets, the R8 V10 just got looks, followed on road normally in your blind spot (most annoying) etc etc but it was always 'good' feedback so, so long as the cars are getting good feedback i can put up with that :-)
