Anyone ordered an AMG GT-S yet?
Discussion
I had the opportunity to have a good look around one of these in the flesh today and I'm sorry guys, but IMO it doesn't have the presence of an SLS.
Also are these being screwed together at Affalterbach? The reason I ask is that the shut lines and panel fit didn't look as good as an SLS. Did look nice inside though.

The SLS wasn't constructed in Affalterbach - bodies made by Magna Steyr in Austria, and assembled in the Sindlefingen plant. GT is the same. Only the engines are made in Affalterbach.
I would say the build quality of the GT is a step up on the SLS with notably less noises, vibrations, buzzing from components and trim - actually, maybe quality is the wrong word, it just feels a more tightly engineered package.
But I'd agree, it absolutely doesn't have the presence of the SLS

My SLS didn't suffer from any of the above mentioned issues - it felt like it was carved out of granite.I would say the build quality of the GT is a step up on the SLS with notably less noises, vibrations, buzzing from components and trim - actually, maybe quality is the wrong word, it just feels a more tightly engineered package.

You can see from my pic that my last 2 cars have been white but i can't help thinking the GT S would also look good in white with the black wheels, black wing mirrors etc etc...
On the colour options i didn't see Silver Arrow?!? I'm new when it comes to Mercs but the salesman said the car i test drove was silver arrow colour but its not on the option list...?!? I also liked, don't knock me, the fixed wing in replace of the moving wing but hear its not available only on this edition1 car?
I also wanted a car that wasn't too noticeable on the streets, the R8 V10 just got looks, followed on road normally in your blind spot (most annoying) etc etc but it was always 'good' feedback so, so long as the cars are getting good feedback i can put up with that :-)
Alf - You're right, there's no silver called "Silver Arrow" - the silver that's offered is Iridium Silver and is available as a matt Magno paint (which Anjum has gone for and looks superb) as well as the standard finish. You are also right that the fixed rear wing etc is only available on the Edition 1 cars which I'm sure have sold out. A number of us were offered them, but elected not to. Palmball has an unhealthy interest in the sideskirts etc. from the edition 1 kit, but I'm hoping we've put him off those! :-)On the colour options i didn't see Silver Arrow?!? If you're looking for not too noticeable, this may not be the car for you. I've found it draws a LOT of attention on an almost continuous basis. Having said that, the attention is universally positive, so it's actually been a pleasure rather than a hindrance.

Anyone here in Winchester on Saturday in a white one? He gave me a flash of the lights. I gave him the thumbs up...We bonded. His missus looked good in the passenger seat...
Maybe a salesman or customer on a demo. Almost half of the 94 GT on the road (as of last week) are still Mercedes own cars/demos. 44 are registered like this with only 34 to private individuals and 16 to companies. Thats the one and yup, it'll lose money, what car doesn't? OK, a few exceptions but generally they only head in one direction.
I just like the look of these but appreciate I will be very much in the minority. I also really rated our ML63 (which I sold a few weeks ago, bought an E63 and regretted it since) so I expect this new GLE coupe will be right up my street.

So have you ordered 1 or are you going down the demo route?I just like the look of these but appreciate I will be very much in the minority. I also really rated our ML63 (which I sold a few weeks ago, bought an E63 and regretted it since) so I expect this new GLE coupe will be right up my street.

I've just bought one of the cars that arrived in the UK last week - I understand they're the first shipment of GLE's into the UK and suspect some were going to be demo's, others for stock. They're hardly going to fly out They're all the same spec - standard car, premium pack. Almost everything is standard on the AMG. A few colour variations, I've gone for a black one for a change.I'll put a separate thread up when it arrives so not to cause further distraction here - I was just trying to avert attention on GT side skirts

Just make sure yours has centre caps in the wheels when they deliver!
That's all part of the lightweight track pack option jmgdrivesamg said:
