Anyone know what the lead time is on these? Also what deposit do you need to put down to secure a build slot?
I had to put down a £10k deposit to secure a slot and put the money down end of July with delivery coming at the start of January.

I spoke to a dealer last week regarding delivery. It seemsthat there are no dealer pre-allocations. For a deposit placed now, the car would be delivered in April next year. However there may be build slots available as a result of cancelled orders - speak to your delaer

Why the disappointment?
Several issues, most noticeably was major turbo lag,I'm not sure the car I drove was alright to be honest ,flooring the throttle I was counting 2 seconds before the engine reacted to a floored throttle.
I'm a massive fan of amg cars over the last few years, the 6.2 engine is epic, and I've always found the steering to be to my liking.i didn't enjoy this engine or the steering.
These are personal things and the car looks tremendous ,but at that price there are far too many cars I prefer .

.
Certainly not my experience ... lag only seems to be noticeable at very low revs in a "non-sporty" engine mode. Even in that instance, 2 seconds seems like a long time to respond. Where was the car you were driving from?

The steering has taken a while to get properly used to (I found the lightness a little disconcerting at first), I'm now used to it and in the sport plus mode the weight is much better. I think I just needed to get confident that I could just turn in (at more or less whatever speed I want) and the front will just stick.

I drove it in the amg performance tour, red car.
Also I may be a bit fussier than most on engine responsiveness ,having just had a dbs, very little compares engine wise.

Its about 7 months ,I got told if I order now I should get march delivery .
As a side issue ,was really disappointed with the car when I drove it it.
Having had a c63 and knowing that engine well plus having a good long drive in the GTS (plus the SLS) I would say the ne new engine is in no way a disappointment. It's lost virtually no responsiveness. It's torque curve is wonderfully flat which has the nice fat torque wave of the 55 twin turbos. From a sound perspective. Again, whilst not as raw it is different in a way which is deeper crack lier and more aggressive sounding. Even compared to the SLS which sounded great, and the black c63, I prfer the new engine on sound. It's literally like rifle fire when it back fires. It still feels a muscle car but it feels extremely well engineereds. Gearbox excellent. Steering yes light. But from what I understand with the new r8 many new performance cars seem to be moving that way. Almost insulating slightly more and making driving less physical but then dialling up certain factors that spike adrenalin such as noise, crackles, gear change jolts when at full chat etc. stepping back into a 550 maranello you appreciate just how physical a car only 15 years old feels. Hence considering the gts will run for at least 6 years, and with steering getting lighter, maybe it was intentional by amg

Perhaps this thread is dead now but I had a voicemail from Mercedes saying the GT is subject to a safety recall and I would shortly receive a letter. Helpfully she failed to leave a contact number. Anyone else had this or know what it's about??

It's regarding the cars locking owners in to the car unable to get out.

Yep - it's a software update that's required. I took mine in and drove away 40 minutes later.

Just driven the AMG GT and test driving the GTS before making the big decision - BUT. Which seats are the most comfortable and supportive for daily use? I am tempted by the sports seats but have not had the opportunity to try a car with them fitted. Am blown away by the car. Sold a 599 GTB two months ago and didn't think I would find another car which can be as exciting as this which is useable evert day.

There is an AMG GT-S parked everyday at Woking station. Beautiful car.
Does it belong to anyone on here?
