Interesting to see that Drivethedeal are offering £5.5k discount and broadspeed are offering £4.3k discount on the GTS
The salesman at the recent Amg event told me the first years uk allocation was sold out,in 2-3 years time I would expect to see it discounted ,but not the first couple of years.Well I'm not a happy chappy today! I've just been told my expected delivery date is.....SEPTEMBER!
This is despite being 3rd on the list in the Inchcape MB dealer group and as such, it was originally suggested my car would arrive in the first couple of months. So Anju is having one of the first one in the UK and I placed my order exactly one month after - could a 5-month waiting list really have built up in the space of a month when the Inchcape group only took 2 orders before me? Mmm...something doesn't feel right here and either my dealer aren't being totally honest or they're being very pessimistic.
I certainly wouldn't have sold the SLS so soon had I known I'd be waiting nearly a fking year! Not happy.

Got an email this morning from MB telling me the configurator was now live. Apologies if old news.

Mine would come in at a frugal £101,870

I did briefly flirt with the idea of buying one. It looks fantastic and (I have no doubt) be at least as good as a 911. The main reason (and it's too late now), that I didn't order one, was my previous poor experience with MB and their lack lustre customer service. I'm not convinced that MB have a clue how to look after customers, so to give them more money just seemed ridiculous.
Of course that just my experience/opinion and there will be plenty that follow me bemoaning Porsche for the same reasons. No, it's a 911 GTS for me I think.... (Or maybe wait for the new R8)!

Yet to experience the MB experience, however will NEVER buy another Porsche ever again. The mother F*ckers sold me a 997 GT3RS which had been written off, reshelled out the network, with the same chassis number stamped in the shell, and then given a Porche 200 point inspection and approval. Porsche GB (Andrew Goss hang your head in shame) were complicit in this as were Porsche in Stuttgart. There is an old thread on pistonheads somewhere. Will happily repost pictures in the correct forum.
I'm so glad they nearly went bust and are now owned by VAG, who also own Lamborghini.
I was in the process of negotiating over of Carrera GT at the time, but will never touch the beetle producers ever again. It's called voting with my wallet.....

I remember your thread. Good for you. Shocking deception. I recall the outcome was you dumping the car back into the network for a 15k loss.I'm so glad they nearly went bust and are now owned by VAG, who also own Lamborghini.

The MB issues are very dealer specfic. Find a good one to look after you.

To be fair, I have had good and bad experience of MB. But with the SLS, they did seem to up their game considerably - it shouldn't be like that but they looked after me exceptionally well with the SLS, far beyond my expectations. On the contrary, Porsche are probably the worst I've dealt with - not only was my 997 TT one of only two cars I've had to veer break down, they were extremely arrogant to deal with (I refer here to the dealers, but I suspect this is endemic throughout the brand). I guess you've only got to look at the way they dealt with customers on the latest GT3 saga - from a distance at least, it appeared to be a farce!
Back to the GT, whilst I'm still disappointed by the lead time (and it does appear to be the case as checking with other dealers, ordering now doesn't get you a car until well into 2016!), my dealer have honoured their commitment to give me a car, for free, until the GT arrives. They thought this would only be until April/May, we're a bit unsure when this moved out to September but have come good and are keeping to their word. Honestly, I now have no issue with this situation at all, especially as the other half can have the free car and I'll be using her ML63
The other good news about the delay is that 1. I get to see some examples and colours/specs before I have to commit to a spec and 2. I get to spec Distronic which is something I've never had, something I fancy trying and it's only available from June-build onwards.
As I understand it, 200 cars are coming to the UK next year and they've all gone quickly. This can only be good for residuals, especially initially and is no doubt going to be helped by the unbelievably positive reviews.

Wow, that puts my minor spat with my C63 into perspective.....I don't blame you in the slightest for voting with your wallet over that. But my experience, (in no way the same league as yours), has been exceptionally positive with Porsche.
Anyway, the GT. Yep, I think if you ordered one of the first ones you will do very well. They will undoubtedly hold their money well and you get a nice car to boot. As I said I did think about it quite a lot, but ultimately I just didn't want to deal with MB. Their dealers made me feel the total opposite to you chaps.

Though not in the same league as your dealings with Porsche I did have something similar happen to me. I've just recently decided to try another Porsche dealership who I was told were good only for them to try a blatant trick on a used vehicle. I'll never purchase another Porsche again.I'm so glad they nearly went bust and are now owned by VAG, who also own Lamborghini.

All premium brands seem to suffer from similar levels of ineptitude from time to time. It's a real shame as it can really spoil the ownership experience. I find it is more about finding the right people at the right dealerships (or in customer service) who are willing to take ownership of issues and fight your corner in what are huge multinational corporations.
If you find those people, just stick with them. I've found great people at Porsche and Mercedes.

Very true.
I remember the first time walking into my local MB dealership about 10 years ago. The salesman treated me like dirt (I obviously was not wealthy enough) and I vowed never to darken their doors again.
About 6 years ago I went back in and a different guy could not have been more helpful. I became a happy customer and still deal with the same guy today.
