Anyone ordered an AMG GT-S yet?
Discussion
Yes, GT is later but I thought more like November. Having checked with other dealers, it seems an order now for either GT or GT S is well into 2016. Good for residuals (at least for the first year or so) if you've got an order in for 2015 delivery...or at least I hope! Nothing like whats happening to SLS's currently though.

Andrew has your SLS actually gone? Wouldn't you better keeping hold of it until the GT arrives given what SLS prices are doing?
Yes, it's gone.....although I wouldn't have let it go had I known that the GT S delivery wasn't going to be until September. With regards value, I actually don't think I'd have got much more for it in a few months as the dealer paid me a very (very!) good price for it, especially when mileage would've probably been in the high 20k's by spring/summer. I probably secured a strong price on the basis that it's a bit more special than your typical SLS but I also believe they thought they'd sold it. In the end it looks like this didn't happen and it's now up for sale at very strong money, although I'd argue it is worth the extra over a 'standard' SLS given the extras and outstanding condition (it's amazing how poor condition some SLS's are in, most seemingly having lots of swirls, dull paint and well-used interiors - I took a lot of care and time to return mine to as-new condition).

Was in MB Derby the other day. Saw your car and agree it's in suburb condition . Yes, they are asking a lot but I understand that they have to pay MB 2% of the asking price every week then 6% every month until sold so they will need to move it quick. Can't see you being patient enought to wait till sept. for your GT
I
I doubt the dealer have to pay MB a monthly cost before selling it - it's the dealers car, not MB's. There will be some added cost to sell it as an approved used car (e.g. the warranty) but I suspect they're only one off costs. The reason the dealer will need to sell it in a reasonable time is the pricing policy adopted by all the major groups whereby they have to reduce it after a given time until it sells.
For what it's worth (and I'm sure they will), I hope the dealer does OK out of it because, despite the unexpected delays on the GT, they've treated me very fairly and have generally been very pleasant guys to deal with in all my interactions with them.
I have to be patient as I don't have much choice - I'm not getting a GT any sooner no matter how much I try!

I'm pretty certain that the GT is being launched in the UK in December 2015. First deliveries will be late 2015/early 2016. I think the MB are going down the route of:
1. GT-S Launch/GT-S "Edition 1"
2. GT Launch
3.GT-S convertible
4. GT convertible
5. GT-S Black series
(3-5 are just guesses, based on what I was told when I was at MB World at Brooklands). No definitive timescales. I would guess that the GT-S convertible will be ready for European/US summer 2016?????) then followed by a GT3/Black Series GT-S 2017 (Again all timescales are just me guessing).....

GT S 503bhp launches first in April
GT 456bhp launches second later in the year (I suspect November/December)
Riglers - I wouldn't say it's insider info - these are the timescales that have been discussed widely in the press for the last couple of months and they've also been verified by my dealer.
If you ordered a GT S in late-October, you should (at a guess) get it early-mid summer (for comparison, my late-November order is supposed to arrive late summer). If you've ordered a GT in late-October then I suspect you're looking at delivery right at the back-end of the year. I suspect these cars will be worth the wait both in terms of the actual car and (if this early demand and restricted supply is anything to go by) residual values

Palmball thanks for the info..I must have missed the later launch for the GT which is what I have ordered so this supports what the dealer has advised verbally. Awaiting confirmation in writing before I commit the spec - what have they asked you for a deposit as I have been told £5k but also £10k has been muted?
Does anyone know if you have the option to sell on your slot under MB or would you just lose the deposit? 12 months is along time to wait and you never know what might come up 😁

You need £5k to get on the waiting list. This is the stage that I am currently at.
When it comes time to spec your car, you need to pay another £5k (which is where the £10k comes from). I'm told I will be at this stage in April, so it looks like this is approx. 4-months before delivery.
You will be able to get your initial £5k deposit back at any point up to the point you have to pay the next £5k and commit to spec, at which point I suspect you're locked in. I doubt MB would sanction you 'selling' your space (at least openly) as the whole point they've adopted this process is to supposedly stop speculators and ensure GT's go to genuine customers who want the car (although I honestly can't see how this is would actually stop speculators),
I know what you mean about the length of wait though - I'm chomping at the bit already and I've got another 8 months to go! Not helped by the fact I've sold my car. But I can't see anything on the horizon between now and then that I think I'll want more and I certainly wouldn't have sold my SLS for anything else similarly priced that's on sale now (F-Type, 991 Turbo, Aston's, R8's etc).

Just been down to MB Chelsea to sign a form and give them my registration retention certificate. The build is now locked down - and of course I wanted to add one more item to the list! He's getting back to me tomorrow to see if it's possible. He has 15 orders for the GT-S - and he showed me my position on dealer order list - No. 1, which is nice to see it confirmed in writing....
He also confirmed to me that I can't do a factory collection - even though I offered to buy a spare set of wheels with winter tyres....Ho hum....
He did say that I am on the VIP list - but don't really understand what that means yet - I look forward to finding out!
