Indeed, but MB in Ascot could not care less. They said "sorry, what more do you want?" They did not acknowledge the key point being that they had refused to consider faulty ceramic discs as a warranty issue after just a year on the road.

It is important for buyers to be aware that MB will not help with any issues regarding faulty ceramic brakes, which is obviously wrong as all parts are under warranty, regardless whether MB describes them as wear parts or not. My recent experience with Porsche and Mclaren is miles ahead of this circus.

E63S Carbon Ceramic Brakes Noise

Hello All,

I hope that someone can help or has some experience / advice. I recently bought a 2015 W212 E63S which has 39k miles with a Service History (Merc I think). A few weeks after I bought the car it started making a whining type noise at low speeds mainly when turning at parking speeds. I took into Mercedes Cheshire Oaks who charged me £120 to diagnose the issue with a chassis stethoscope and said that it needed a new steering rack. I wasnt convinced so the I contacted the specialist dealer I bought the car from who asked for their mechanic to take a look. They said it was the brakes, they re-seated the pads and it was better but then started making the noise again. They agreed to take it a German Car Specialist (I know the owner) who confirmed he thought it was the brakes. He suggested changing the pads, again it was initially quiet but is now much worse making the whining noise now frequently in straight lines as well during slow turning. The disks look fine and the car has well below average mileage.

The dealer I bought the car from has said that the brakes should have lifetime guarantee but various posts appear to indicate that Mercedes Benz's definition if somewhat different. He also said that ALL CCB make a noise, not sure if that is true but the noise my cars makes certainly isnt normal and embarrassing at times for such a prestigious brand, surely I cant be expected to put up with it.

I am not a mechanic but it the noise does appear to be related to the brakes not the steering unless its both.

HELP

Thanks

You might be better starting a new thread specific to your issue and/or asking on one of the MB forums, which might have more 'technically-minded' contibutors.

Sometimes carbon ceramic brake noise can be cured by some hard braking, although the cure might only be temporary. Were you advised about the correct procedure for bedding in the pads; assuming you had new pads last time; however, the difficulty with a car that you haven't driven from new us that it's difficult for you to be 100% sure how previous drivers have driven it.

It's a sweeping generalisation but ceramics are often quieter if used 'harder/hotter'.

There were some threads about ceramics / running-in procedure on the Aston forum on here a while ago, if you search/look there you might find something.
