My CE has 15 hole "flat face" wheels fitted which are a bit shabby, the lacquer has come off round the edges
and also a little bubbling from corrosion. I got a quote for refurb and the chap said the rust might be a problem and may come back so I'm looking at other options.

Are these wheels available new? Any idea of cost? Buying another set to refurb would be an option too.

Thanks a lot for that, they look pretty tidy but mine are 15s. Worth having a look on Ebay I think.

Cheers.

I know the later (8 hole) wheels are available to order from Mercedes. They are around a hundred quid each without badges.

Cheers, it might be worth checking with MB then.

That doesn't seem too bad, nice to see you can still get them. I shall weigh up the options, thanks for the replies.

If you have a decent wheel refurb you won't get any problems. The will strip the old paint and refinish.

I've used these guys before and the wheels come back like new. Not cheap however so it might be easier to get a new set, you can ebay your old set £50-£100 depends how bad they are or just keep them for winter.

Would you consider updating your car with some 16" W124 alloys, say something like these whistle

The part number says they were fitted to the 500E and SL, but obviously fit all W124s...

Except they don't. They only fit 124.036s (i.e 500Es and E500s) and pre-06/1998 129s. The offset is wrong for other 124s. The 500E has the rear suspension from the r129.

They are et34, and the standard 124 arches are large enough to take them.

It's only when the cars are excessively lowered that there might be slight clearance problems.

The offset is meaningless without the width of the rim. These wheels are 16 x 8J ET 34. There was a 16" 8 hole wheel available for the 124, albeit was dealer fit. It is size 16 x 7J ET 41. Think about it: the 124.036 had flared arches and different suspension to accommodate them. Even the standard sportline wheel on sportline suspension rubs in extremis. These wheels that you're offering will stick out too much on a standard 124: about 0.75" inch too much. They will rub and they will look wrong.
