SLK32AMG with a squeak!
Discussion
My local garage says he would have to strip down the pulley to diagnose exact fault, must say its a very small squeak but its there. I was thinking initially if I could use this as an excuse for the smaller pulley and it looks like the way to go and a bit more oomph as well so right on the money there choppers. That looks like the bit of kit I have been looking at today gerradi I was hoping another owner would comment is it from cks? I would also like the remap as well and am I right that the engine could be pushing out approx. 420bhp?
No idea what its putting out as i fitted myself but its a lot quicker! I'll have to make an appointment at MSL in B'ham early next year & get it remapped properly, mine has the uprated Johnson intercooler pump as the old one died, i just upgrade as the bits fail. Next job is the rust on arches & door corners, just had the wheel refurbed
Nice car, I am becoming more impressed with it each time I have a mad moment in it.

There was a known problem many years ago regarding a squeak noise from the supercharger on the cars like the SLK32 AMG, C32AMG etc. A document was produced by Mercedes which if memory serves me right was listed on the Mercedes WIS (workshop information system or may even be on the TIPS system accessed by Diagnostic Technicians at Mercedes dealerships.
It stated that a squealing noise could be heard from the compressor under various engine conditions, loads etc & summed it up by saying it was a characteristic of the compressor & replacing the compressor would not cure the problem as the new compressor would be exactly the same after a settling in period.
Any good experienced Mercedes technician will probably have come across this document years ago & it may be worth visiting your nearest main dealer just to confirm this.
I'm not saying this is your noise that your suffering as you'll appreciate I've not heard it, but I wouldn't like to see you wasting your money on something that doesn't need doing unless of course you looking at upgrading power output.

My slk32amg has had a b service today by my local independent merc specialist.
The mechanic has told me there is a slight squeak seemingly from the supercharger pulley area. Does anyone have any experience of this problem or any ideas how to fix.
thanks
Mike.
