Hi,

I am a new member, English but living in France !
I have a 2009 CLK 220 CDI and am having problems working out how to get my music ( via an ipod or similar) connected to the existing audio system ?
There are no aux connections and the french dealers tell me I can't alter the fitted system due to so many controls being within the steering column !
No doubt there is a way ( there always is ? )....if anyone can help me out there....very grateful,

Martin

Hi Martin have a look in the Glove Box there's normally a 3.5mm jack plug in there if not take a look at this I have just had it fitted in my 2007 CLK63:

Here's the specs:

Hi ZULU 10 & ZX10R NIN...

many thanks for your help on this....like the look of the Pioneer system and it looks like I can get hold of this even down here in Medieval France !

Where have you had this installed in the car by the way ?

Thanks again,

Martin

When it comes to fitting third party solutions, they will offer the most functionality and connectivity but will look a bit rubbish in your dashboard.

I fitted the Mercedes iPod kit to my CLK which I bought secondhand off ebay, cost around £70.

You're wrong on that one the pioneer works great it's the same double din size as the standard head unit the surround goes on & it looks great better than the 2007 Mercedes Nav unit plus it works fantastically with the steering controls it cost £100 to have it fitted including the adapter plugs.

Why would it look rubbish?

It's a double din replacing a double din infact the Pioneer has a bigger screen.

I had it installed by my local Pioneer specialist.

Now i've got it in I'm going to replace all my speakers with 17cm Infinity Kappa Two Ways X4 Plus a pair of Kappa Tweeters Two 8 Inch JBL Subwoofers which will sit in the Standard places under the rear shelf so none of it will be seen & the sound quality will be so much better(I have just had this done on my 320 CDI sounds epic) plus it can't be seen the car looks completely standard apart from the Head Unit when its on

It's very simple - I prefer my dashboards to look OEM. Becker units asides, I've yet to find an after market unit that "looks" factory.

We're all different smile , but I personally don't find the swathes of extra black plastic acceptable, and I don't get off on specs:

Mines Dipped with a Black Marble finish which matches the Black Maple finish on my dash. Take a look at dipping especially with an Elegance interior.

Hi

Was told about this discussion. Is this a picture of what you got? Or what you would prefer?

The reason I ask is like you I would prefer OEM (depending on cost) I have a 2005 CLK220

So I just trying to work out if I can have something like this. And mainly I just want to connect up the phone to steering wheel/head unit and play music/listen to radio...I don't do ipods!!

Many thanks and apologise for jumping in this discussion.
