Not a single SLS on Autotrader...

I would always buy a convertible over a coupe but in this case it would be the gull doors all day long.
Any thoughts about a lhd from the EU?
It's very wide with a long bonnet and the way it is designed means it's not intuitive finding the limits to the body. Take extra care driving in a city and overtaking on country lanes and you'll be fine. In terms of value, expect the usual price differential unless the spec is spot on!Any thoughts about a lhd from the EU?

Seems pretty accurate selling to a dealer. There's a low mileage example on auto trader for 135k.
It's black, and I know it's subjective, but that has to be the worst colour for an SLS. Hides the lines and size of the car. There's now a grey one on for 125. Seems better value but that particular dealer's cars can be hit or miss.

Totally agree. Dark grey sls is rocking
It may be rocking, but I think the classic Mercedes silver will be the best bet long term, ideally with red accents. Guess what I bought?

In terms of value yes! However the dark grey makes the car look more aggressive and fits with the rumbling exhaust note nicely.
I have to agree with you there. I chose silver largely from a resale point of view, it isn't a colour I would normally choose, but in fact with the red roof I think it does look good...notax said:

Best colour combo for a roadster. Silver or red for the coupe. Black is just not the right colour and the greys are in the middle for me.

Our SLS is in original ownership, and under 8000 miles. The supplying Mercedes dealer called yesterday asking to buy the car(!) No price mentioned yet, but it's not for sale.
You know the market is looking strong when dealers start calling you! You may as well find out what they'd offer...This thread is tempting me to open up the garage and take it for a spin
Bought mine 2 years ago second hand and added 8000 miles to it my intention was to use it as an everyday car which I did for a while but prices rising forced me to put it away last Autumn and save it from our salt covered roads. Now it resides with all my other cars which I save for sunny days.
It'll come out soon as you're a long time dead

Gullwing looks best in metallic blue, I had a silver one because that was all I could buy at the time with massive discount but always wished I had waited for a blue or a black car. Roadster looks good in silver or black as long as with a red roof.
Pleased that I could now sell mine for more than I paid for it brand new which would also be the case if I had kept my gullwing.

Out of interest, did you prefer the coupe or roadster?Pleased that I could now sell mine for more than I paid for it brand new which would also be the case if I had kept my gullwing.
The roadster by a good margin, I ran them back to back for about six months to be sure, the decision was probably helped by the fact that my gullwing was a fairly base spec car whereas the roadster has almost every option. I felt that you mostly use a car like this when the weather is good, yet when you sit in the gullwing it is very dark (mine had a black interior and dark headlining) and your head is so far back that you cannot see the sun if it is shining. You also hear the engine more in the roadster which is a definite bonus. Handling etc seemed the same in both cars.
Saying all that, I still regret selling it right at the bottom of the market, I lost a fair chiunk of money on it despite having bought at a fantastic discount, it would be sitting at a tidy profit now.

How are you finding it?
I'm loving SLS ownership thanks. I've had her a few weeks now and have no regrets whatsoever. She's a very different car than the Lamborghini Diablo she replaced. The Diablo did sound better (I'm a sucker for a V12 on full chat), looked more unique and had more sense of occasion about her. Along with that come a fidgety ride, mediocre handling, huge bills for servicing and IF anything goes wrong (which it didn't for me).
The SLS is very useable, still turns heads, still feels special, is great on fuel (for the type of car she is), very luxurious, refined yet still goes like a scalded cat when you poke it with a stick and to some extent, the gull wing doors add to the theatre and driving experience.
What I loose out on from the Diablo, the SLS makes up in other areas and more. As much as I love my classics, you can't beat the driving experience of a more modern car.
The SLS could be a keeper for me
