Exactly, thin pillars an absolute boon for these things... shame about the high bootlid on a W140 though, really spoils things in terms of rearward visibility!

I will look out for you - I am also based in edinburgh and run a 1991 300E and 500SL. There are plenty of us about up here. I once drove across town and counted 8 w124s in one trip!
