Hi all,

Does anyone have any recommendations for a main dealer service centre or advisor?

I need to take my SL55 in for some work, anywhere within 50miles (ish) of central London.

Have had such mixed experiences with Main Dealers, always down to the advisor.

I'm in Surrey and Work in West London.

Thanks

PCS in horndean are the SL55 specialists!
They had 4 in their garage during 1 day recently.
I would choose them over a main dealer any day.

My experience:

1) Mercedes Chelsea - Sales in Chelsea, Service in Battersea.

They seem to treat customers like they are idiots. They were gobsmacked when I dared to question the £900 cost of a B Service on a C63. I think that is par for the course at London dealers anyway.
The service centre at Battersea is strange. You are greeted by a chap who parks cars who is rather abrupt. May be a language barrier but his attitude isn't great as he asks you almost 'what are you here for'. I remember getting a lift to pick up my car - he told my old man in no uncertain terms that he can't leave his car here.

2) Mercedes Brentford / Chiswick - These guys are alright actually.

3) Mercedes Temple Fortune - found these guys the best - I know someone who works there which always helps.

4) Brooklands - This would be my choice but a little too far to travel. Always enjoy the visit.

You're right, I do know of Olly and his reputation.

Only thing is, car is 1 owner from new, and only ever been to Mercedes, serviced, mot'd, tyres, wipers, even under Still under MB warranty

Before coming to me, my 190 was looked after at Brooklands. Despite it being the most basic, bottom of the range car imaginable, and ancient to boot, it is evident from the history that they took great care of it and its owner. They did like to charge, though...

Yep, I'll call Brooklands today - it's under warranty so not worried about the costs.

Chelsea were indeed strange. Had the experience with the guy on the gate. I was there with SLS due to a parking sensor issue.

Initially they claimed it was not a valid warranty claim. Then after the dealer j bought the car from intervened it suddenly was. In other words they tried to get me to pay 800 pounds so they would earn a higher payment as Merc would pay them less under warranty work. Turns out that they fitted the nose cone of the car back on slightly misaligned also which admittedly I didn't spot but when selling the car the garage's buyer did. Also the sensors come in black and have to be painted. So they painted it in the wrong shade of silver.

Brooklands were better but managed to forget to do the MOT even though it was due at same time of 3 year service. I say forget - it was no doubt my fault for not specifying it needed an MOT again when I brought it in even though I had when making the booking

Also they would not cover the rust that appears on the centre hubs of the SLS. It's cosmetic and would only cost a few pounds to fix. This was their flagship car and still under manufacturers warranty and had covered 3k miles.

I wouldn't buy another high end merc again. From the experience of trying to buy a car and being asked to leave a 5k deposit to test drive one (eventually sorted after grumbling) to dealers not returning calls to their warranty work it all seemed very amateur.
