Guys,

I have been looking for a C250 CDI for the past few weeks and had a few questions.

What are the main things to look out for on these, I heard injectors is there anything else?
Also on start up is the engine supposed to sound 'clackety' until the car is warmed up, the one I looked at last week did whist until it was up to temperature.
What are they like in the wet and snow, do winter tyres make a difference and can you use them all year round rather then swapping?

I think that's in for now.

Many thanks

B

These engines are noisy.

Injectors failed on early cars and would have been replaced on a 2010 car by now.

Other thing to look for in my experience is coolant leaks, electric water pumps are prone to failure at around 60k ish it seems, expensive to replace at main dealer, mine was done under warranty thankfully

Sort of noisy, they clatter on cold start but quieten down quite quickly, there were problems with exhausts that rattled, but were replaced under warranty if you complained. I did, it was and improved things.

Injectors was a recall, and should have been fixed - they failed fairly quickly, less that 30k miles.

I'm not aware of water pump failures, maybe auxiliary heater pump.

And fine on winter tyres, in winter. Mine get swapped in spring.
