Can anyone recommend a good exhaust place that would be able to remove the resonators on a CL55 AMG Kompressor and replace with an X-Pipe?

Not exactly Gloucestershire, but if Birmingham's any good then MSL Performance will do what you want.

They've done lots of AMG stuff, including my own car, and know exactly how to get the best out of them. smile

I would recommend infinity exhausts near Bristol. I went there on the recommendation of fellow ph members and they were superb..craftsmanship was excellent..i compared this to a certain Essex based mercedes specialist and there was no comparison .

I'm based in West London so wasn't the closest but wanted somewhere that knew what they were doing

for my 55 it was £300 for x pipe and secondary de cat in 2012

Thanks both for your replies.

Don't suppose either of you have a recording?

I'm thinking infinity might be the easiest but if MSL are 'better' I've got no problems blatting up the motorway

Mine's been modified a lot more since the resonator removal, so pointless putting a video up really as all it has left on it are the back boxes. frown

Having said that, it is on THIS MSL PROMO at around 4.18. This was with just the resonator removed, before I started going over the top with it. biggrin

Infinity exhausts outside Bath - competitive pricing, proper enthusiasts who know what they are doing and hand build the exhaust to your specification. Would highly recommend them based on the xpipe and secondary decat that they built and fitted on my SLK55.

Don't bother with a recording, it just doesn't do the system justice.

Look on YouTube. Search for slk55 x pipe and the user seightwesty (that's Barry ashcroft from here). This was the work done by infinity exhausts and convinced me to get mine done

I'll see if I can find the pics I took of when my car was done, the welds were superb..especially when I've seen pics of others done

My only proviso would be if you plan to do any further mods. I had Kleemann cams and exhaust headers fitted afterwards which necessitated taking the primary cats out..This really was too loud (but not in a good way). I had to take it to infinity and get them to add some 100 cell sports cats and a small back box

I'm digressing though..The X pipe was superb and I do actually miss the deeper rumble now ( but am enjoying the extra 90bhp)

Also , remember the video shows a cold start ..This will settle down after 30 seconds and will be no louder than usual until you Bury your foot to the floor
