SLS...Selling?

I find myself interested in the SLS again. I flirted with getting one around 2 years ago but went for a 12c instead. Given that they seem to be around 150k now - how will values go from here - will they depreciate again, hold, or appreciate a bit?
Interesting that you were considering the two. How come you chose the 12c? Will you be keep it?Over the last year they have been going up between 4-10% every month depending on spec & mileage. Difficult to say where they will top out but one thing for sure is more people are understanding that the SLS has so much going for it and truly occupies a unique segment amongst its competitors and is a special car in Mercecdes AMG's history. So it fuels buyers who are collectors, merc enthusiasts and those wanting a nonconformist supercar.
A quick scan of auto trader and piston heads would tell me that the SLS will continue to appreciate at a similar rate. Perhaps sometime next year they will begin to plateau and remain at that level. After all nothing will replace it.
I have been watching the SLS price like most of you guys here for the last year and had planned to hold onto it that was until this weekend. I received a call from MB who asked if I would consider selling my car to them for above market price and the would collect the following day as they had a customer with cleared funds. I was caught off guard and accepted the offer and now it has gone. It is the first car I have owned and in all my years I have never made a profit on any car and was expecting to loose 10k per year when I bought it. Anyway I will probably live to regret it and think you guys who own one will be in a strong position in the future.

Can I ask how much you got for it ?as the prices seem to be all over the place,I think there was 1 on the mb site for £180k which seems to have sold straight away.amg master said:

That £180k one was a genuine late model GT and it's worth noting these never reached the 'lows' (£90-100k) that many of us bought SLS's for - I don't think I ever saw a used GT for sale at less than £150k? So like for like, that £180k car probably isn't any more of a 'premium' than a standard one. That said, there's definitely more to come yet - these cars still haven't reached their new list prices (with options) yet.Sounds like the prospective customer never existed.
At least they're advertising the upgrades and the gearbox does turn it into a 95% GT, only really missing the ride control suspension which is also retrofit table but very expensive. In contrast. when my SLS was up for sale it was very poorly advertised - I had lots of upgrades done at AMG, including the gearbox, and none were mentioned. Madness.

I think your right about the customer but it does seem that the prices seem to be on the move though especially when dealers are buying them up. I noticed a few advertised from MB Northeast lately which I found to be quite strange as I had only ever seen one other in the last few years. I probably will regret selling it but I had two great years with it and was not afraid to take it to Germany and drive it as it should be. I think for the mileage 25k I did alright.
Yes, I'm of the same view with mine which was a similarly high mileage, mainly put on by me and included a couple of trips to my favourite German factory . No point having a car like that and not using it and I'm sure if I'd have kept hold of it indefinitely it would at some point have made me an even healthier sum of money (although that may have been limited with me given the rate I added miles!), But I'm happy I've enjoyed it and come out of it with a modest profit....there's not many cars you can say that about!
Yes that is how I feel. It is a bit easier for me I have to say as I actually spend most of my time in Australia and don't get back until Xmas so easier to let go. I still think that the SLS is going to be hard to replace though as it never failed to attract attention and many thumbs up from those in the know. All I have left is a cabinet full of die cast models which I picked up at the factory, wonder if they will go up in value lol.
My car was a 2012 on a 61 plate and was the base model with standard kit with the GT gearbox upgrade. You have to remember my car had above the average mileage for an SLS although I do se a few more with higher mileage starting to appear. I find it strange that 25k is classed as high for what is almost a 4 year old car however I only put 11k on it in my two years of ownership as my work takes me abroad for most of the year.

I'd like to add a bit more Brabus inc adjustable suspension, but then it will obviously be less standard and even though I don't plan to sell it, the values going up definitely play on my mind. I paid 97k for mine with 3k miles on it. Spent c20k on upgrades since,

I had a 'sale agreed' on a GT @ £120k at MB Epsom before I pulled out. Car was up at £125k. At the time regular SLS were around 95k and convertibles at 115k.
Not my best decision though I didn't really gel with the car on the test drive.

That has got to be the cheapest one that's gone for sale....but still shows the premiums he GT had over the regular SLS.At the time regular SLS were around 95k and convertibles at 115k.

As vpr says though, the SLS isn't necessarily instantly endearing so a test drive isn't always going to show it at it's best.
