Does anyone know what it's about? I have a W205 Sport Premium and my salesman came to the conclusion that as I don't have the Comand pack MM won't work. I then got a call from Mercedes (well, a call centre) asking why I hadn't registered the car for MM, so having set up a MM account I tried to activate all the services, which was followed by an email confirming that they would be activated as soon as possible and then another email stating that the services had been terminated because there is a change of owner!
I would be interested in the apps that enable me to monitor the car's status, location etc., but no-one at Mercedes seems to know what is possible. Truly frustrating!

Does anyone out there know what is available and whether (and what) I can get on my car?

Did you manage to get an answer to this?

I'm taking delivery of mine this week and have been trying to find out if you need command to use the MM services.

From my understanding and after entering the VIN details into the MM portal I can use the services without command, I just need to book in at a Merc garage who will then activate... The website says:

"Contact authorised Mercedes-Benz retailer
Please now contact your authorised Mercedes-Benz retailer, who will then be able to activate Mercedes connect me for your vehicle. Please take the following with you to your appointment at the retailership: ID card, registration certificate and the email address of your Mercedes me user account. Verifying your identity ensures that no unauthorised person can view your vehicle data and functions online or use the attendant services. You will receive a confirmatory email when your car has been authorised for Mercedes connect me and when the services have been activated. You will then be able to use and manage the services online on your own."

You'll be able to activate it at collection. Just remember to ask.

I don't have the answer regarding the apps, but I can confirm that my car, without Comand has (presumably all) 5 services activated, Accident Recovery, Breakdown Management, M-B Emergency Call System, Maintenance Management and Telediagnostics.

My sales guy is supposed to be ringing to talk it all through, but hey, having just bought a car he's not expecting me to buy another for a while and his priority is selling cars. I did manage to sort out getting the speed cameras onto one of his other customer's Garmin systems and introduce someone who bought another W205, but I'm still not important enough for a bit of post-sales service wink

Apologies for the thread resurrection.

I have recently collected my MB - CLS with command. I have not been able to add the vehicle to the MercedesMe account I have set up. The car is on MB contract hire so the website is saying that the car is already registered to a main user - presumably MB - although that user could add me as a secondary user.

Anyone managed to get this set up on a MB contract hire car? The app does look to be more comprehensive than the BMW version I had before [2011 Z4] so I would like to have it if possible.

Thanks

I've just received a mailer from Merc re Mercedes me. Never heard of it so researched a bit. Seems like a neat box of tricks. For a moment I got excited thinking it was like Apple CarPlay but nope - it's of no value to me for one.

I decided to give it a go on a 2014 W218.

Whilst it is somewhat limited in terms of function and usefulness it does have a couple of features that I like and use:
1) ability to log business mileage
2) ability to go into maps or contacts on my iPhone, enter or select an address and send it to the car. When I get in the car I just access it as a Personal POI and it's in the COMAND Navigation.

BOOMMP!

Mercedes have offered me the MercedesME on my 10 year old E Class. I am having it fitted in August.

All free, but I am not sure why.

I have had mine fitted for a while now. No charge to me so I thought I would give it a go.
If you read the t&cs then it is clear that Mercedes get to collect data from your car.
The only real benefit to me is an accurate record of journeys which is useful when claiming company mileage.
The app did seem to drain the phone battery quite fast when first installed but it settled down quickly.

Having come from BMW to Mercedes, i can safety say that Mercedes me, and the overall mobile integration is shocking from a manufacturer of this age and experience.
For me to use the Merc Me services i pay for on my app, i need to log in via a web portal.... what is the point of the app then??

My car is fitted with Mirror link/Smartphone integration, except apparently i need some magical voodoo box that Merc hasn't made yet for my car.
Seeing as its a 2018 W205 Convertible, i am struggling to understand how it can possibly ship without the box required to make the option (listed in the full options list) work?!?!

The car is great, the Infotainment would have been better if designed by Fisherprice!!

Agreed, This kind of tech has always failed MB - I know not why (but I love my hooligan C63 anyway) scratchchin

I came from having BMW Connected to getting a job in a sister company to a Mercedes dealership company so get all the perks of working in the dealership, e.g. new AMG every six months etc. (Finance role).

I found BMW connected an awful app, and i couldn't get the Mercedes Me app to work at all due to the registration process not accepting my postcode.

Then a guy in the dealership set me up on the app and it's been brilliant and far slicker than the BMW one. (e.g. lock car / locate vehicle takes very little time, compared to ages for the same service on the BMW app).

I think each dealership has a specialist on the app, and they can set you all up on their computer far quicker than you can, it's worked a treat so far.

I have just changed from a 5 series BMW to an E-Class and I also find the Mercedes Me part much better. Other aspects of the infotainment interface are still bugging me.

Took over an hour whilst on the phone to Mercedes for my wife to set this up. It's bloody good though but the change of ownership from the dealer to her was quite hard work.

I would, I was set up in literally minutes and didn't have to do a single thing other than give him my email address pretty much!

Mine was fitted the other day and set up by the nice man at Brooklands. We are now up and running.

But

What does it do?
It tells me how much fuel is in the tank. Yeah.
It tells me my mileage. Yeah.

What does it do that I can't do myself in 10 seconds?

What does it do that is clever?

It tells you tyre pressures. As does the car when you're in it.

It tells you your last trip. See above.

It tells you that the windows are open or the car is unlocked. It does this irrespective of whether they are or not.

It tells you the state of starter battery. Frequently "partially charged".

It tells you the car's location. This feature apparently is an extra which needs paying for.

Personally I think that it's a waste of time and money. As you state, the standard version does nothing special which you cannot find out without using it, the only features worth bothering with are the ones which need paying for.

I never use it now, treating it as just more unnecessary technology to clog my phone up.

I would concure. PIcked up my 55 at the end of June, which has one of these, and I can't even get the mobile\pc to make a connection to the car :-\. Potenially a very useful gadget but not if it doesn't \can't do anything.

Most used by me is if you find something on line it let's you send the location to the sat nav from Google to drive to later.

Reassuring is It will alert you if the alarm goes off or someone hits your car.

It will let you unlock the car from anywhere.. Not sure I will use this, but it reminds you if it is unlocked and asks if you want to lock it which helps with peace of mind.

Find your car and show on a map works fine for me.

Slightly useful is the book a service.

Gimmic is the remote control parking but it did come in handy once when I returned to find cars both side so close that I couldn't really get in either side. Cool to watch the car drive itself out and then get in.
