Just bought a CL65 2004. I know they are very rare especially in RHD, but does anyone know how many were made or left in the UK? All the info i have found seems to differ some say 25 some 10. Anyone have any idea on how to find out the exact number. AMG see reluctant to give any info.

There is a site called how many left you need to get your search right but the figures for the UK are there

mine is virtually identical to the picture posted, but I will get some pictures posted ASAP, I have checked the website how many left, but i thought this covers all CL65 models I am trying to establish how many W215 CL65s were made.

Not sure if this is the car you bought, but this car sold over the weekend. The entry states 35-40 sold in the UK.

yes that's mine,

i know the entry says 35-40, however before the auction and after I have found that the figures they have quoted seem to be out!!! I cannot find anywhere stating that there were 700+ made and also the 35-40 made I think relates to all models not just the w215.

I will somehow get to the bottom of it and report my findings

either way what a car!!!

There were approx 40 sold and approx 30 are currently on the road. That is just the W215.

And out of that 30 on the road there are two mentioned in this thread plus I've just seen one pop up in the PH classifieds - that's 10% of them right there smile

Hope you enjoy it OP, certainly a nice car but by crikey you must have wanted it badly to pay that much for it.

Congratulations, you just bought one of the most exclusive and most beautiful Mercedes-Benz ever made !!! thumbupbiggrin

I can tell you that only 777 units were built world-wide.
http://media.daimler.com/dcmedia/0-921-1090569-1-1...

On these 777, there were 194 units sent to the United-States and only 9 (yes, nine !) in France smile
For the rest of the world, I don't have any other official figure but yes, around 30 in the UK was what I had heard once.

We own ours since 2008 and we'll keep it as long as possible. One of the best engines ever made, could you imagine how crazy this engine was when it was first launched in 2003 !!! Still today it is incredible.
We raced many sport cars including 997 GT3 RS, 997 Turbo, GTR-2011, F430 and we beat them so violently from a rolling start, this car is just incredible with 612 hp and 1000 Nm of torque (738 foot-pound).
Originally, the engine produces 1200 Nm but AMG reduced the torque to preserve the excellent 5-gears Speedshift AMG, a bulletproof gearbox as long as you replace the oil every 37 000 miles.
By the way, the CL 65 C215 is quicker than the C216 because it is lighter.

And concerning the esthetic, it is so pure, elegant and classy with the sporty touch. One of the most beautiful Mercedes design...

Yes, we do LOVE our CL 65 AMG (C215) !!! angel

I can assure you this car will worth much more in the next years due to its rarity, the fact it gets one of the craziest engines ever made and thanks of its beautiful lines...

Catch them while you can ! (if you can find one biggrin )

PS : Volker Haag also built our V12 bi-turbo wink we had the chance to meet him at Affalterbach in 2009 and he was really moved to see that french people came to AMG to meet THE man who built their engine biggrin very nice souvenir.

Does anyone have confirmed information as to why some 65's have a 160mph speedo, whereas some have the obviously better 220mph speedo? Mine has the st one which will have to go when the ecu upgrade opens up the extra 50+ mph

All 65 AMG I saw had 220+ mph speedometer.
As ours, in km/h it is 360 km/h.
That's odd (?)

Mine has a 160mph speedo, took the car to MB World who checked the speedo and it is not the original one, they all apparently had the AMG Speedo, there was a recall for some models to have the speedo changed because everything would cut out, mine was not on the recall list, i can only think there was an issue with the speedo and it was changed to a normal speedo 160mph (same as my S Class) Not the AMG one.

It is about £1200.00 to get it replaced and really needs to be done at a main dealer.

Ordering mine to be done next week, they give you £200 off for the old speedo

Is that £1000 after discount? All in? Do they readjust the mileage etc
