I am sad enough that I really enjoyed watching this Old Top Gear review of the Mercedes 190 from 1983 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZlzcnWISHMo

That suspension testing machine is truly evil

I drove lots of people about at work today in my 190 2.6 (I get business miles on the insurance) and it was very much appreciated. I am really enjoying the back to basics feel, combined with the 6 cylinder engine. Not something that you get nowadays.

Lovely 190!

I was reading classic Mercedes today and they have a piece on the rare Japanese spec e400 AMG. I'd never heard of such a thing before. A 4.2 litre v8 with the same power as the 500e.

All serviced up ready for the summer.

An evo II and a Hammer! What a 80s/90s Mercedes garage. Do you have more details on both, please!

What a stunning SL! What engine/year is it? They work so well in the sun don't they! I need to go and retrieve mine soon. I've been driving my little 190 this morning - it's a great mini Merc and ideal for pottering about doing tasks. Not too big, great visibility, smooth straight 6 with enough go to cope with traffic without stress, a fantastic ride. Ideal for modern life.

Kmoosa go and get a 2.6 190 as your day to day car.

I really do need to get my SL healthy and back on the road, mine has silly (and utterly non mb like) straight through pipes.

Just thought I'd post a couple of pics of my 124 now she's had a quick clean. Been out today in the sunshine with the sunroof open, nothing better!
Is the paint original? If so, can you tell me which way up the hyphen goes in the 300 E-24 badge? Do the square corners go on the top or do the curved corners go on the top? Believe it or not, Mercedes-Benz Classic insisted that the hyphen badge was symmetrical top to bottom. A close up photo would be most appreciated.
What a delightful post!

My 1992 W124 500E. Nearly 250,000km on the clock and a few aftermarket mods...

My perfect car.

Please post some more details, and a review of how you find the car.

Of my three old mercs the w124 is the one I keep coming back to, I can only imagine what it's like with a v8!

Wow, what an interesting combination. Manual with MB-TEX in a lovely colour and self wind windows. Only 36 miles, £7,995 in car and classic though!

Seeing as you are all displaying your C140s, here's mine. I became the second owner last week and it has a fantastically complete MB service history with it smile

I really like that. Congratulations!

An 80s/90 Merc issue of vital importance!

The front star on my 190e positively gleams in the sun. It's lovely to drive behind. The one on the w124 is dull in comparison. I have tried chrome cleaner with limited results. Do I need a new star, or is there some other "technique" to use in order to generate maximum shine?

What r129sl said. I think they're about £20-30 so not a wallet buster and you know it will fit
Thanks chaps I will investigate this week. Very surprised that they could be so cheap from a Merc dealer.
