Let's post stuff about 80s and 90s Mercs!

I am sad enough that I really enjoyed watching this Old Top Gear review of the Mercedes 190 from 1983 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZlzcnWISHMo

What a stunning SL! What engine/year is it? They work so well in the sun don't they! I need to go and retrieve mine soon. I've been driving my little 190 this morning - it's a great mini Merc and ideal for pottering about doing tasks. Not too big, great visibility, smooth straight 6 with enough go to cope with traffic without stress, a fantastic ride. Ideal for modern life.

Is the paint original? If so, can you tell me which way up the hyphen goes in the 300 E-24 badge? Do the square corners go on the top or do the curved corners go on the top? Believe it or not, Mercedes-Benz Classic insisted that the hyphen badge was symmetrical top to bottom. A close up photo would be most appreciated.Wow, what an interesting combination. Manual with MB-TEX in a lovely colour and self wind windows. Only 36 miles, £7,995 in car and classic though!

An 80s/90 Merc issue of vital importance!
The front star on my 190e positively gleams in the sun. It's lovely to drive behind. The one on the w124 is dull in comparison. I have tried chrome cleaner with limited results. Do I need a new star, or is there some other "technique" to use in order to generate maximum shine?
