C63 AMG - advice on buying/running one.
Discussion
I just bought a c63 estate. I guess I'm a chav then but I can put up with that for the engine. I live in the middle of Wales I don't know of another c63 around here but I'm well aware of the image these cars have around London/Manchester/Birmingham.
The only advice I can offer if the OP is after one still is to be aware of the headbolt failure. It's the only problem I'm aware of. I bought mine from a garage who are paying for my headbolt failure. Also be prepared for men to come chatting you up! My wife thinks it's hilarious now random men start chatting to me about the car.

I'm looking to buy a C63 AMG, Have a budget of around 25k so looking at 2008-2010 models.
What should i look for when viewing potential purchases?
When are the major services and what should a 6-8 year old car with under 50k miles have had done?
Also how much can I expect to pay for servicing, brakes, tyres etc etc.
Any advice when it comes to buying one would be much appreciated.
Thanks in advance.
On the pre-facelift cars check out whether there was a recall completed for a head bolt issue. What should i look for when viewing potential purchases?

Service intervals are yearly or 12k on the facelift and are alternating A/B cost. I recently had an A service for £360 and a B is double that. The diff service and gearbox oil if needed was another £400. However a service plan is £45 a month.
Brakes on a PP equipped car are priced at over £2k for the front, non PP are lots cheaper. A set of 19" Continental Sport 5s are about £650. I have got about 4K out of the rears and there's probably another 3k to go. The fronts look barely worn.
Drive it and see how you feel about the gearbox, the facelift ones are supposed to be much quicker and the early ones are usually picked up that it's an issue that might put you off.

Just buy the car you want, if you like the C63 get one. There are people in all sorts of cars who drive like idiots.

Ignore all the haters - I've had one and it was really great, it won't suddenly transform you into a dick overnight. (Fully paid up member of the cock socket club)

If you can afford the car and you like the car (and worth checking you can get the third child seat in!) then get the car.
Plonkers drive all types of car, there isn't a special buyers club that dictates the car of the moment
If the two outside child seats are isofix then forget about it in most cars. Plonkers drive all types of car, there isn't a special buyers club that dictates the car of the moment

Didn't realise the C63 had that reputation now....but I'm 33 next week with 2 kids so can safely say I'm not one of these new breed of owners.
I love the IS-F but why did they have to have just 4 seats? The wife wants another kid next year so need 5 seats if I wanna keep the car for a few years.

How about an RS6 avant?

Says it all really. Judging by the last two keepers I imagine the 14k on the clock were 'Sunday poddling' miles! 😂

My 2 at the moment are 7 years old and 6 months old so would only need the 2 isofix when we have another.
I'm quite drawn to the XFR too...plenty of 2010/2011 examples in budget and there is a 2009 one with just 11k on the clock in autotrader.
Or there is the M3 Saloon?
Saying that I have always wanted an IS-F so I may buy one of those and just trade it in for the Merc or Jag when I need the 3 rear seats.

I was in a similar position to the OP and had narrowed my choice down to the is-f or c63. As already mentioned the Lexus is rare so it's a little bit more difficult to find one to view but they are out there, you just have to travel. I test drove both and the noise they both make is addictive although the c63 to my ears definitely sounds better. The Lexus interior was a little dated too compared to the facelift c63 which is the car I bought.
Not regretted it for one minute although I'll probably be on my local Shell station's Christmas card list this year.
