I've narrowed it down to the IS-F and the C63 and am viewing examples of both over the next week.
I think I'm gonna go for the Lexus and then when I have the need for 3 rear seats in a year or 2 I will swap for a C63...most probably the estate version.
That is unless the new Giulia Quadrifoglio becomes affordable by then.

LOL at tonker's summary - it's pretty accurate judging by the tttishness I've both seen and watched.

However, it wouldn't put me off one.

Looked at one about 6 months ago. Just can't fully get down with the fact it has a slightly non-premium look and feel C-class interior.

Went for the IS-F in the end. Pick up a dark grey example on Wednesday from Lexus Coventry. Just sold the Giulietta QV today so am having to use the wife's 116d for the next few days.

Good left-field choice; someone had a thread running in Readers' Cars with a IS-F and it looked lovely.

good choice. have 2 or 3 in there at the moment ( all silver ). I think you got the better car in the end.

You jammy git. I've been longingly looking at those (the IS-F, not the 116d), and wishing that right now I didn't need to have an estate that it's ok to ruin with weekly tip runs. That and that I had a spare twenty grand knocking about. As soon as my house renovation is done an IS-F could well be on the cards; for now I'll just have to be jealous of you.

Just buy the car you want, if you like the C63 get one. There are people in all sorts of cars who drive like idiots.

Ignore all the haters - I've had one and it was really great, it won't suddenly transform you into a dick overnight.
So how long does it take? a week or two...

Shame the IS-F is auto only, everything else about it really appeals to me.

Envy? C63 has awesome sounding engine. I would ignore such comments.
I wouldn't say "envy" but what I would say is, who gives a sh*t what reputation vehicles have? What a strange way to be influenced. Sounds quite weak to even consider others views on it, especially when they are only negative.

I can't work out why I'd be anything other than over the moon if I had a C63 AMG. I drove an E63 AMG for a bit and really liked it.

Unfortunately I don't have much to add on the running costs.

make sure you re-fit the number plates using velcro as it makes them a lot quicker to remove when you're trying to run away after stuffing it trying to drift around a shopping centre roundabout

I like them, great engine but the interior is poor.

For the money an e60 m5 is more powerful, quicker, better interior and a more specialist choice. But harder to live with as a daily car.

Personally i feel that a cl63 has a better image and was a much dearer car when new, have you looked at one of those?
