Am I missing something on this thread? Are people saying the W204 C63 is a chav chariot? frown

I'll offer a serious answer and say just buy one, fking brilliant car. Excellent on the road and long drives and with decent rubber great fun on a race track...who cares about the running costs, they're worth every single organ you'll sell to run one.

there is some light ribbing about the stereotypical driver, but it's only meant in jest

The Trafford Centre culprit should be hung for dragging the name of AMG into disrepute! If only he had even an ounce of ability and hadn't crashed it.

OP, get one bought. I've had a lot of cars and this is my favourite by a country mile...so what if it's not really at home on track, what it lacks in cornering prowess it more than makes up for in arrogance and straight line grunt smile

I can confirm the above having recently sold my C63.

90% of the calls came from the "will you take 10k for your ride, innit bruv, geezer." gang....Dreamers and chancers on a level I've never seem before.

Owing one is great. Selling one is horrible.

Had one guy phone me at 2am completely smashed off his tits...I promptly hung up only then receive a message saying he's a genuine buyer.

Enjoy.

ETA

I sold mine to a dealer in the end.....A car dealer.

ETA again...

Michelin Road Pilot Super sports are your friend.

I've OWNED mine since new, and I love it today probably more so than the first day. It's rather a garage queen if you like, is lovingly detailed and appreciated for the right reasons. I am young, I do go to the gym to bodybuild, I have clipped facial hair (not thin lines), I take pride in appearance of myself and the things that I have worked hard for so for all the evidence I am a c0ck socket but, I can't disagree with the bashing comments because, if you look on social media (Youtube, Instagram or some such fckfaced social application), the people showing off these cars tend to be West London/West Midlands/South Yorkshire/South Wales spray tanned white men in string vests or Asian playboys who aspire to be Arab princes.

These people are thankfully a minority and made widely public by the internet only, and seem to confine themselves to the above geographic areas and/or social media. I could say the same for the Nissan GTR (definitely), Audi RS5, BMW M3/M4/M5/M6 actually; they attract that kind of person like flies to dung. RS5 for example, I have seen a local string vest guy in one on airbags, wrapped in frog green with maaaad camber. In reality, these guys probably are maxxed on credit, gobste sales/call centre types who'd rather have a nice car than buy a home...but each to their own and it wouldn't make me want to sell mine for this reason.

Since I purchased mine, I've seen three locally in three years, driven by older gents bar one. I did see one string vest type driving the third, who came flying down my street acting like billy big balls, like he'd "made it". He didn't look impressed that mine was poking out from behind the hedge on the driveway, calmed his driving down then kindly fcked off again never to be seen.

Buying advice?

Tyres. They wear nice and evenly on these but the rears inevitably wear more quickly than the front so check them.

Wheels. Check for cracks on the inner face or for poor welds. It's a combination of small sidewalls and bad roads; not common to this car but all 18/19" wheel clad cars of late in the UK.

Head bolts. Pre-2011 Saloon/Estate suffered so check they have been replaced. The coupe came later and did not ever suffer.

Creaks. Some people complain of interior creaks. I have none but it's worth checking to seem if the creaky area can be helped with some foam strips or such.

Cats. Early cars may have been modified. Check that yours have four Cats (one in each down pipe, two sitting parallel in mid-pipe).

That's it really. Speaking with my MB dealer, they rarely see a C63 in for anything other than servicing, which is actually quite reasonable. The most expensive services will be Gearbox service and LSD (not drugs) if you have an LSD, then spark plugs of course. You can mitigate some of this cost by taking out a service plan which gives you some discount.
