Has anyone actually driven a GLC43 with 19's? Assume it rides a bit better over slow speed stuff than the 20's?

Thanks

I picked up that thread a couple of weeks ago.
Quite a lot of people there looking for mutual reassurance and I was amused at some of the Merc minicab jokes. Are these people aware that Porsche is part of VW?
I have driven and really liked the Macan but it is a pimped-up Q5 if one is being honest.
I am a cash buyer and very simply the like-for-like spec cash price for me was £48k vs £62k. I could buy a half-decent old Boxster with the change.
The cost of some of the options is ridiculous. The specs are very close and I think it boils down to personal choice but the Macan is clearly not , in my view, worth the 25%+ premium.
Interestingly the F- Pace is a similar price (wonder why?) so maybe it is just that GLC is great value.
In any event,I'm looking for something fast but discreet which is tricky with any Porsche.

For anyone that's interested in Macan GTS vs GLC http://www.macanownersclub.co.uk/forum/merc-glc-43...

I can get a specc'd up glc 43 for £50k vs Macan GTS £66k. Big difference. Doing personal PCP with £10k deposit. Finance about £100 pm cheaper on glc. Am I really going to get fleeced so much more on depreciation with the Glc and is Macan the more financially sensible choice despite its extra cost?
Not a lot of love for Mercedes over on that Macan forum, perhaps understandable. I looked at Mercedes PCP deals when I was buying as I wanted to understand the GFV as an indicator of depreciation. At a list price of £54k OTR the GLC 43 Had a GFV after 3 years of 27.5k. So approx 50% value retained after 3 years.

Could you give me a rough idea of the monthlies on the 3 year £54k car?

I'm paying £700 a month on my M3, ideally would like the GLC to be a bit less, otherwise I'll keep the M3.
This was on a 4 year deal mind you.

There is an example online: https://www.mercedes-benz.co.uk/content/unitedking...

It all depends on how much deposit you'd be willing to part with, and how much discount you can get. Based on that example I'd say you'd be able to get it for less than the M3.

What's the 3yr residual estimate though? I've no idea on Macan, but I always thought the big thing about Porsche's was they held their value well.

Perhaps it says more about VW, but it seems almost incredible that at the bottom of the GLC range there are dearer Tiguan's.

http://www.pcpcal.co.uk Use this to work out monthlies. On a rrp glc43 that is £57k list the residual after 3 years is £28.2k so that's a good guide and the apr is 5.8%.

Hi Colin, I just checked my old notes - everything goes into excel :-) - and a 3yr PCP with £5k down and a GFV of £28K was ~£650/m

Test drove the GLC43 on Saturday, great vehicle, really all you could ever need, and yet it left me somewhat cold, 5 minutes after the test drive I'd forgotten the drive. Not a good start, maybe I expected too much after the M3.

However.... They had a C63 (non S, coupe) on the forecourt and I almost signed up as soon as he started it up. What a noise!!!

Awaiting a days test drive on the 8th as that's my first day off from now! Can't wait!

Interesting comment I still haven't been able to get I one but I guess after the M3 it's going to be a very different animal as is the c63 so I'm not surprised with what you said and hasn't put me off.

The editor of pistonheads wasn't aware no one has reviewed the car in journalism world so said he would tap up Mercedes at the Paris show which starts this weekend. Maybe we'll finally get a journalist review in the near future.

Definately don't be put off Phil, as I said it was a cracking vehicle! I told the salesman that, and I'd absolutely be proud to own one!

May even still end up with one, but perhaps in GLC63 guise... Who knows!

Horses for courses. The M3 is one of the best cars on the road for everyday fun and real power. Which one do you have? F30? Lovely.

My M135i was much sportier than the GLC and at first made the GLC feel big, heavy, and slow to settle into corners. But I did have the suspension tweaked on the baby m as the standard setup was similarly slow to settle.

That was then. Now after 2 months of ownership I have really got the feel of the GLC and this afternoon was hustling along country roads, late for the school pickup at speeds that would have unsettled the baby m. Yet the GLC was as happy as Larry. Growling and popping as the auto gears constantly adjusted to my driving style, holding the revs for longer to tap into the power. The suspension just ignored the bumps and lumps in the road and kept the car stable at all times. It was floating over the road.

It's not a sports car with lots of space. It's an SUV with lots of power and poise. The more I drive it, the more I like it.

Yeah it's the F80 I have, I also had an M135i on eibach springs for 2.5 years before the M3, again it was a cracking car but just lacked drama.

It was only a short test drive <10 miles of a new unregistered showroom car so was super tight as well. I think if I'd come straight from the M135i I'd have been signing the line. One thing that did surprise me about the GLC is that the actual boot space didn't seem overly big.

I think the coming year or 18 months will see some mega SUV's in this size class, next generation x3 is getting a full M version, new RSQ5 and the GLC 63. Unfortunately they will also be comfortably more expensive.

Ah, are you in Scotland? I think I remember you buying the m3 last year. We're you on babybmw.net? If that's you, and you had a Clio v6 if I recall, that m3 nearly tipped me over the edge!!!!

Thanks for the comments particularly ColinV6.
Hasn't put me off at all.I want an SUV that will get me from A to B swiftly, safely and as clinically as possible. I want to be able to cruise at 100 mph on the autobahn and drive safely up to a high ski resort at the end.
I'm lucky enough to have a fun car (old BMW Z1) for all that emotional stuff.
I've been waiting for a while for a decent fast petrol SUV to come along. Don't want to wait for the GLC 63 but may be tempted in a couple of years!
Owned one of the first E36 M3 Evos back in the 90s - lovely car!

Correct - apart from the fact it is diesel.
