Test drive the Macan GTS and Merc last week. Macan felt special but I'm at £69k with options versus £50k on Merc (Carfile doing 10% discount so it's a £56k spec car). Almost 40% more expensive so it should feel better I guess!

So I decided to go with semi sensible option but I think the Merc is a lovely car especially at the price. Loved noise of up change in sport +. Like a shot gun going off!

Putting order in today... Metallic black with premium +, leather, intelligent lights, 21 wheels, HUD, running boards and 360 camera.

Delivery is probably Feb frown
Try a different dealer if it is. I ordered on 10/9 iirc and it went into build on 13/10. Totally configured it how I wanted it to be.

Tried. Availability drastically changed in last couple of weeks. They both said I'm looking at a Feb or Mar delivery

Finally... a vaguely objective UK review...

http://www.autocar.co.uk/car-review/mercedes-benz/...

Exactly what I was hoping for when I ordered in early September and seems a fair summary. As we've discussed on here, it probably isn't quite as sharp as a Macan GTS- but 25% cheaper. As for the SQ5, looking a bit old (and diesel) and don't fancy risking an early-run new model from Mexico.

Please keep the updates coming from those of you taking delivery soon.

A very pleasing review. Not entirely accurate as it says the SQ5 has it beaten on straight line performance BUT the 0-62 figures favour the GLC...

I had an extended test drive in one today and was very impressed. Docile when you want it to be and decent turn of pace and soundtrack when called on. In summary I would agree with a 4star + rating.

A few other observations. The car I drove had the carbon fibre inlay and that looked great. I'm not a fan of running boards and even at 6 foot 3 I couldn't step over them getting out without catching the back of my trousers. I also thought the artico looked cheap and would go with full leather.

Dealer was quoting March / April delivery and saying they are on backorder for some options like head up display but that should normalise in the new year.

First post here. Took delivery of my new US-spec GLC43 on Saturday. I ordered it in August, changing the options on a vehicle that the dealer had already ordered for stock. Some options I wanted were sold out (silver trim 20" wheels and all types of wood trim), so I had to make some compromises to get early delivery. In the US, all variations of C43 and GLC43 were just released to dealers 10 days ago (emissions certification delay?) although hundreds of vehicles had been sitting at US ports since August waiting for certification issue.

I have driven my GLC just 60 miles so far, but initial impressions are great. My car is dark blue with black leather and aluminum and piano-black trim. I ordered the same black leather interior as non-AMG cars (with gray stitching and black seatbelts). It has all the available tech and safety options. 20" wheels with VR-rated all-season run-flat tires. Because of VR-rated tires, US-spec GLC43 has 130 mph speed limiter. No sunroof. No trailer hitch.

MSRP with options and destination charge: US$67,785. State sales tax was 6.25%. License plates (registration) cost US$100/year. Insurance will be about US$2000/year (2 teenage boys in my family make insurance expensive).

By the way, US fuel economy rating is 18 mpg city and 24 highway.

Very nice, I still can't get over how expensive those cars are over there, or should that be cheap over here in the UK wink

The insurance charge - does that allow your teenagers to drive the car as well?

Yes, certainly. My insurance agent says that's the only way auto insurance is written in the US.

After 6 months of waiting I've finally taken delivery of a glc43 Amg and i can say it was definitely worth waiting for!

My spec is premium plus, 21 inch wheels, running boards, carbon fiber trim (looks amazing) and metallic black. I had initially ordered the performance seats in leather but I was advised they were discontinued due to a design issue so changed to the standard non leather seats as I find the alcantara more comfortable and harder wearing than leather although I fully understand individuals choice to upgrade to the premium feel of the leather.

After a couple of hundred miles my initial thoughts are very positive. The car looks menacing and the sport + mode is highly addictive and sounds amazing, even when coasting along at low speeds. The car appears to be getting a lot of attention, although that does not feature on my list of priorities when buying a car.

The gear change is very smooth, even when pushing relatively hard (not enough miles on yet to push too hard). The ride on the 21 inch wheels is surprisingly comfortable even when the suspension is in sport+ setting but I've yet to push hard into corners as I'm still learning the car so can't comment on handling as yet.

MPG is around 18 but I'm sure this more down to me not being able to bring myself to selecting anything other than sport+. I'm fairly confident I'll be looking at mid 20's on my usually 10 mile commute to work on mixed roads once I've gotten over the soundtrack but clearly this car will never be purchased to achieve economical MPG.

Couple of other points I would like to make regarding options and spec. Running boards are exactly as people have described, trousers may get dirty but they look fantastic and I'm hoping they will reduce the road dirt on the lower body? Carbon fiber trim looks great and feels durable when compared to the black, really suits the car and flows well with the red stitching on the seats and dash.

One thing I wish I had ordered is the 360 camera, I would love to add this on due to the sensors not giving the usually increased frequency of beeping the closer you get to objects, the sound only starts when you are right on top of objects (in the red band), I guess retrofit of the camera would be very costly vs the bargain price of under £400.

A couple of questions for those who have already got their cars....

I can't seem to activate to checkered flag graphics on the rev counter or speedometer, is there a setting or mode I'm missing?

Also, I seem to be getting a large amount of "crabbing" when turning at low speeds on full lock, could be the wheel alignment but wanted to get other experiences before calling in at the dealers.

I'm happy to try to answer anyone's questions regarding the car as this seems to be the only place on the internet so far with real life experiences and I appreciate how difficult the wait is!

Thanks. Very helpful. This has become the default GLC 43 owners' forum.
25 Nov for me but I think one of the contributors here picks up tomorrow.

Congrats.

Crabbing is all too common with full lock at parking speeds. Feels awful. But I assume it's not an issue.

You are very unlikely to get mid 20s mpg on a 10 mile commute. Very low 20s is more like it.

I am having my shiny black plastic centre console replaced in a few weeks as it's scratched from light dusting. Also getting a software update for engine and gearbox as improvements have been made. Mine is quite snatchy.

Well today was the day for me smile Picked it up lunch time. It was nicely wrapped up like a lovely little early Christmas present.

It has 10 miles on it, and now about 50 smile It is really really nice. As explained earlier in this thread, my outgoing vehicle was a Mercedes GL class, so two sizes up. As such I was already familiar with the controls, command online, aromatic etc. But I had Harmon Kardon and now Burmester for the sound. I've got to say, considering it is new, the Burmester sounds pretty fantastic!

The car looks awesome, I'm very pleased with it. Obsidian Black with the standard interior.

Naturally I haven't pushed it hard as I want to run it in, but early results are promising. I've never test driven one before, so almost bought it 'unseen' if it wasn't for the configurator. The engine seems a peach, very responsive and civilised in Comfort mode, throttle response definitely sharpens in Sport, and the sound in Sport+ is very addictive as is the instant on/off throttle response. And that sound in Sport+ it will be very addictive.

The handling is very good, much lighter compared to my GL, and the airmatic suspension is doing an absolutely sterling job keeping this vehicle under control. It is really good, less bouncy and seasick than what the GL did in comfort mode.

All in all I'm very pleased with it. If I'm allowed to be a little critical, whilst it is a very, very, very fast SUV, it isn't as bonkers as I know AMG's to be of old. For us this is perfect as it is my wife's daily driver, and it truly is fast. But if you want a bonkers AMG I'd wait for the GLC63 version. Or better get this one and then get a C63 Coupe smile

I saw one of these pulling out of a side street in Chester the other day and it's a very impressive looking car in the real world .
If they are half as noisy as my wife's slc 43 in sport plus is , you'll go bankrupt due to fuel costs but you'll laugh all the way there !

Out of curiosity, is that the ramp for today's delivery cars all stacked up?

Oh yes very noisy - I did the school run this morning. My daughter said she could still hear me a block away (I did have it in Sport+ to show off :P). And the boys going in were all asking her like, Wow! What is that!

They loved our choices so far; the GL Class was something different from all the Range Rovers, the Golf R was the first one out in the UK at the time, and now this smile Sound is amazing, but fuel consumptions, ah well....I test drove the 250d but just couldn't live with it being so underpowered.
