Great looking car, thanks for sharing the photos, mine is on order and arrives in october...
I've got a few days left to finalise spec, any advice on options, recommend? not worth it?
Any pics of inside?
Cheers
Thx. I'll add a pic of the inside if I can. As for spec, premium plus, 20" wheels, 360 camera, leather, and running boards is, I think, all I added. Spec is very personal though. One man's cake is another man's poison. I've got a few days left to finalise spec, any advice on options, recommend? not worth it?

Oh I wanted the carbon console but it was not available. I may seek to retrofit at some point if not silly money.

Many thanks for the update.
I bought our current XC60 R Design after a short test drive on smooth roads and have cursed the bloody thing ever since.
Once I got it on home turf I thought it had concrete tyres and cart springs! I changed out the standard suspension for Koni FSDs and progressive springs which have helped but its still no Rolls Royce.
This was a mistake I am not keen to repeat, so a decent test drive is a prerequisite before signing on the dotted line.

I think you will be pleased with the ride on 20" wheels. It's very smooth. If I gave a criticism of the ride it would relate to the body roll as the car passes over uneven roads. No concrete tyres, more rock and roll BUT I am comparing it to a super car and not other SUVs so it may well be the best SUV at limiting roll for all I know.I bought our current XC60 R Design after a short test drive on smooth roads and have cursed the bloody thing ever since.

Went out tonight in the rain. It was fabulously composed in sport mode and comfy too. I really like it.
Oh and it gets lots of looks... Which is always nice.
Well that looks cracking - pretty much the spec I was looking for. STILL haven't had a weekend free to go have a shufti, so this update is great.
Couple of weeks in now, what's your mileage like? Not the point of a car like this, obviously, but still of interest. Don't want to spend my life filling up.

Hey Nick,Couple of weeks in now, what's your mileage like? Not the point of a car like this, obviously, but still of interest. Don't want to spend my life filling up.
The mileage sucks. If that's an issue don't buy this car. On local runs - journeys of 3-5 miles in the country - I get 16-19mpg. On long, motorway runs I have managed 30mpg without really nursing it.
Why so low on local runs? I have it in sport + mode because it sounds stupendous! It's a real head turner as it creeps through town.
It isn't 'fast' like a hot hatch with its terrier like urgency and it isn't 'fast' like my 911 turbo in a point and launch kind of way but it does cover ground quickly and very comfortably. As my 'economic family car' (yes it is green compared to the Porsche) it is filling its role nicely.
Don't get the black shiny centre console though. The dust gathers and looks messy so with a microfibre cloth I wipe it then very light scratches follow. I wanted the carbo but couldn't have it as part of my build slot so I need to retrofit I think... This black shiny stuff is not IMO fit for purpose as it scratches so very easily.
Oh and the comfy suspension is great. Comfy but not soft when pressing on. The sport and sport plus is firm but still compliant.
I am liking this car :-)

jcx911, that is beautiful! Makes a great change to see a new car in a colour other than the usual shades; I bet the engine makes it too!
Usually more of a BMW man myself, is the GLC the equivalent size of an X4 or have I got confused?
Thanks! It is almost identical in size to the x3. I've had 3 Mercs and 2 BMW cars in the past and have enjoyed them all in their own way. And yes the engine in this deffo makes it. Usually more of a BMW man myself, is the GLC the equivalent size of an X4 or have I got confused?
Thanks for the extremely useful review and pics. Keep them coming!
We've been enjoying looking at one of these to replace a slightly aging yet still enjoyable VW Golf R32 and your thoughts have been most welcome.
Having tested the usual culprits in this SUV sector In diesel including the seriously 'rock and roll' Alpina X3 and realised we want to stick with petrol it's good to hear that MB have got a supple balanced car instead of the crashy clonky efforts of many other smaller SUV's we've tried. They are often just unbelievably bad for a new car with new suspension components/bushes, I'm struggling to understand how people put up with it. As an example new Discovery Sport 5 people on board over lowered curb sounded like the rear axle was going to fall off. Car had done 1000 miles! List price within £5k of MB.
Is it just me MB have made a car here that actually seems worth the asking price, as opposed to v similar priced competition which feel like some areas are polished and decent and other bits were forgotten about?!

- To be fair the Bmw 3.0 twin turbo 35d diesel engine & driveline was impressive.*

Yes! I think the GLC 43 is remarkably good value for what it is. It is a premium SUV for a moderate 'premium' over relatively standard fare. And now that I have the seat position and lumber all set to my liking it is a very comfortable place to be. But you can also press on when needed.
