Ok so collected my car this morning. Rattles / squeaks have gone. But sadly, with the software update I have lost the big VRRRROOOOMM MM on startup in Sport+ mode. Before the software upgrade on startup the noise was BIG for a second or two as the engine automatically revved up and back down in Sport+ mode. Now it just starts in Sport+ mode like any other mode. I need to enquire about this as it's a real sense of loss. Still, it feels like the suspension settings have been changed too as it feels now like it corners flatter in a more car-like way. Can this be? Or am I imagining it?

Nearly lost mine for the night - was out with my daughter and we went for a bite to eat and I totally forget to check the closing time of the multi-storey car park frown The mall was already cordoned off, but we sneaked through, then the escalators were shut but we walked up, I wanted my car back. We were the last ones there, the shutters started to come down...A few minutes later and we'd lost her for the night. But it is safely on the drive now.

My car is driving much more sweetly with the software update. Generally more responsive. It does feel better balanced too. But I don't know of the software update also affects the dynamic suspension.

I have lost noise on startup though which is a shame. Still, life is good so one mustn't grumble.

That is good to hear - I wouldn't mind a little noise reduction in Comfort Mode as it seems to be getting louder by the day, but I'd like to keep it LOUD in Sport+

I ordered one of these a few weeks ago and was told Jan/Feb build. I've just had a call from the dealer saying that the 20" wheels are out of stock and have been since I ordered. Is this really true or is he just messing me about and trying to get me to pay for the bigger wheels? I thought the 20" wheels were the same as the optional ones on the standard model and a load of other mercs. Do they really run out of stock on stuff like this? Does anyone else have one on order with the 20" inch wheels??

There definitely seem to be some kind of issue as on the North America market sites there are lots of issues with people with 21" wheels. So whilst something doesn't add up; i.e. we don't have 20" and they don't have 21" wheels (very strange) it does seem to suggest they have some issue going on somewhere.

It is worth the wait though, I wouldn't be concerned about the 21" wheels for the comfort it is absolutely fine on the stty uk roads, as a bonus they look great and are unique in the range. Yeah they are a little bit more money, but not that much really.

This is not uncommon where manufacturers have a shortage often caused by some options being unexpectedly popular. Mercedes (like everyone else) actually make very little - it is all from sub-suppliers scattered around Europe which are often quite small and capacity-constrained. I was aware of the issue on 21s and not surprised. I have ordered and really like the standard 19s but have really struggled to find decent pictures. There are probably 50 or so for sale (mainly ex-demos) in the UK and Germany and I reckon 80% are on 21s, a couple on 19s and the rest on 20s.
Surprised that there is an issue with 20s - as you say this wheel is available on the diesels too.

it is exactly for that reason that I didn't stick with the standard 19" wheels - not photos, and especially not of the dual colour (I had to have some black in there). So I played it save and went for the 21" as I knew I liked them and they are black, and fill the arches nicely smile Just not looking forward to getting new tyres for them, the sizes seem to be not available from any of the value online retailers frown

Thanks for the info. Not sure what to do now. I wanted the 20" for more of a Q car look and the 21s on my current 4x4 are scratched to hell thanks to the low profile tyres which don't protrude beyond the rims and London's car parks and width restrictions. Which tires come with the 21s in the UK? Do they give any protection to the alloys? Merc were no help about when the 20s will be available again.

The practicality of the 19s in London was one of the reasons I've stuck with them - actually think that they suit the car albeit I'm in a minority (of 1) with that view!

Continental Sport Contact - Nah, no protection, you just got to be careful smile

I managed to keep my GL 21" wheels scratch free during the 3 years I had it including London parking and that is a fair bit bigger wink But saying that my Audi 18" scratch on a normal street in St Albans when I tried to get out of traffic. Accidents happen, the size of the wheel isn't the problem. The driver is smile It was most definitely my own fault.

Well, minority of 2. I prefer the 19s as well, that's what I've ordered.

Minority of 3. biggrin. Fatter tyres are a good thing IMO.

Looks great other than...those wheels...too big! Need more rubber.
Just picked mine up this morning and very happy with a quick blast down the M40.
Pleased with the look (I didn't go with night pack in the end and wondered if I'd regret it).
Also the 19s look good. Tyres are Michelin Latitude. Surprised they are not run-flat although quite happy with that. The guy in the showroom mentioned the issues with supply of 20s - they are surprised and a little embarrassed.
I'll get some pics at weekend.

That's quite a contrasting look. Drug dealing black on black and country gent off to man age the manorial estate :-)

Hehehe - Ed Balls (cry) -

My friends varied between a Cockney Whelk seller, and bloody typical new money (if only they knew wink) and bloody foreigners.

Let's just say that I did take the GLC43 and it nicely stood out at Bisley compared to all the Range and Land Rovers :P
