Not yet - The service department at my supplying dealer didn't even want to experience it, they immediately brushed it away and wanted to give me a number to ring Mercedes who can explain why it does that. I explained that that isn't good enough, and I don't want an explanation, I want a resolution and if there isn't one then the car isn't fit for purpose. That is where the sales manager then got involved and admitted that his GLC250d does the same thing and he has heard it from many of his customers as well, but I'm the only one complaining about it wink

I've asked him kindly and sternly to escalate it as an issue, because if they cannot resolve it I will reject the car. It is horrible to go around corners, it is embarrassing to park it up or leave a car park space. And in tight multi storey car parks you have to crawl to a halt with people honking their horns behind you.

It will be interesting to hear whether Mercedes is taking this issue serious. Definitely spoiling our enjoyment of what is otherwise an awesome car.
Its a shame to see you have gone from loving the car to being at the point of wanting to reject it frown Mine is currently still delayed on the line and I am due another update today. Having searched the web it certainly seems that this is a widespread issue and is making me rethink my purchase!

It has now received its own news item, no longer as part of a review. I guess many more people have come forward.

Bad news chaps. My dads glc 220d also crabs... no air suspension. No offset wheels. Same 4wd system.

Oh and mine does it at parking speeds... may get laser aligned.

On my GL with airmatic suspension, it would require the suspension to be re-adjusted as well. Depending on what is required that could turn into a bill that goes into the many hundreds. I would ask Mercedes to do it for you, and to be honest that is what I was expecting them to do in the first place instead of just brushing it away as being normal.

Very very interesting. Frankly jcx911 should be getting a commission, you've had me speccing one up now myself!

Strangely I stuck it into carwow, and so far have had 7 offers. 5 of which are at full list price... Really not sure whats going through some dealers heads.

They will need to make all the money they can for the flood of rejects coming their way :P

I am literally in two minds right now on cancelling my order, its in build but these complaints seem widespread with seemingly no remedy! Very disappointing having waited in excess of 3 months of ordering for it to come down to this frown

From James from Mercedes on the MBClub forum earlier today...

It's something we're completely aware of. MB's response it's that it's a characteristic of the car and that there isn't going to be a fix for it. It's clearly not something that can be fixed with a software update. The 4Matic cars on the MRA platform are full time four wheel drive, so it's not like a software update can change that. It's just something we're having to make customers aware of before they buy

Yes I saw that one as well; and basically it then comes down to ones tolerance levels. If I was told upfront that this car will scrub/shake/clonk when on full steering lock and not just at extreme cold temperatures then I would have said to the sales person; 'Are you having a laugh?' and looked elsewhere.

I was expecting Mercedes to take this serious, try a 4 wheel alignment/tracking with air suspension, or if it is totally true (that it full masks it) provide some winter tyres free of charge. I am doubtful of the latter as mine does it with temperatures of well above 7 degrees and with fully heated up tyres.

A real shame as the feeling definitely exceeds my tolerance levels of a £55K new car.

Too cramped for my liking, and too expensive for a VW Tiguan. Alternatives on my list would be either the supercharged F-Pace or the Maserati Levante.

Here's a thought... mine doesn't crab anywhere near as much when in reverse. Only when moving forwards. Does that tell us anything?

Also doesn't happen when rolling, I.e. When allowing the engine to drive the wheels without any accelerator and while covering the brake, only when 'driving' I.e, under power applied by the accelerator.

Good morning,

I`m experiencing all the known issues at present, the kncocking / crabbing at lock coming off drive and in car parks, rattle from rear view mirror instrument cluster area and also rattle / hum from centre of dash area. Havent contacted supplying MB dealer yet or my local MB service centre but will do in due course.
Also going to check tyres today for any abnormal wear and also inner arches for any signs.

Just another query, we have the 21" AMG Alloys with Continental tyres fitted...what tyre pressures are people finding best ?

I`m currently cold - Front - 218 kPa (31.6psi) and Rear 220 kPa (31.9psi)

It was higher a week or so ago and I dropped it as the ride felt too harsh.

Sure its meant to be around Front - 32psi and Rear - 35 psi

Thanks and happy new year.

Yep, my father has a 2 day old GLC Coupe 250d AMG Line on staggered 19" wheels with the same problem.

IMHO, this is not a tyre problem, it's a diff problem.

Mercedes UK are refusing to fix, but will supply a set of winter tyres. Hankook UK who are the OE tyre supplier are saying nothing is wrong with the rubber...

Yes nothing is wrong with the rubber I had the same continental sportcontact in my GL like I now have on the GLC as per the factory fit. There was nothing wrong with it previously. It really is the car itself frown

Where is this coming from about MB UK Supplying Winter Tyres ?
Is this in a service bulletin from MB officially yet?

I'm still to contact my supplying MB dealer or my local MB service centre, I've got the crabbing and also the hums and rattles from dash area, was going to hold off until something official gets sorted and the book car into get all sorted together.

Sure they'll get this sorted soon enough as it's a great motor with a few flaws

Mine appears to crab less when in Sport+ mode. Can you all pls check your cars in Sport+ to see if it's just me or if it does make a difference? May be that the map is different for the diff and allowed slippage in Sport+ mode.

I haven't noticed any difference to be honest, but I do tend to switch back to comfort when I get home. I'll give it a go tomorrow.

Today our temperatures were 11-13 degrees, it was crabbing, juddering, skipping like crazy. Seriously it wasn't funny getting out of our drive, I was worried it was going sideways into a car parked opposite our drive. Then again getting out of our road, absolutely terrible turning the corner. And then in Milton Keynes the Centre, turning in from the road to the parking area, terrible crabbing, but nothing compared to trying to park up. It is so embarrassing it really isn't funny.

Definitely put this car on your do not buy list until it is confirmed this issue is sorted.
