1993 mercedes sl600 are they rare?
Discussion
Yes, very rare. Introduced in 1992, the V12 600 was described as a technical tour-de-force by the press, but criticised I some quarters for its anodyne and silent power delivery. It was thought that it offered nothing over and above the V8 500 in terms of performance, yet added complexity beyond the wit of man into the mix.
They're great and would earn credibility with Mercedes beards.

In a production run that ran from 1993 through to 2001 a total of 11.086 600SL600s were produced.
To put that in context, in the same period 103,534 500SL500s were made so for just over every nine 500s made one 600 was produced.
Then consider that most of the 600 production was left-hand drive and you can see a right hand drive 600SL is going to be pretty scarce and being a first year of production model perhaps even rarer.

Thanks for the input chaps.
I stumbled across the car parked at a mercedes indie. It's been there for around a year and a half with a problem with the roof. The indie said it needed a new roof module and the customer wasn't prepared to pay £1500 for a new one so the car sat there ever since.
I contacted the owner and agreed a price and bought the car complete with its collected moss.
I recharged the battery and to my amazement it started up literally first turn of the key.
First job was to get it all cleaned up to remove the moss and fury interior!
It cleaned up perfectly so then onto the roof and other electrical gremlins.
After s lot of reading and fault finding I managed to get everything working for a grand total of £4!!
All the aluminium fuses had oxidized over time causing temperamental contacts. I changed all the cars fuses for new and everything is perfect.

What a find,I'm so envious. Go on tell us what the price was you agreed, and make us more envious.
I had a similar intermittent fault with the roof of my SL320.Until I left it,without a battery for a few days,(I`ve been told this resets the ECU ?) and then fitted the most powerful top quality battery money can buy.
All faults disappeared.
