Hi all,

Does anyone have / know what the standard build sheet for a 500e would be and what optional extras would be available

Cheers Dale

It varied from market to market. I have a couple of price lists for the UK market but very few of the cars here today started here.

That said, in most markets, much was standard: air con, heated seats, electric sears, ASR, SLS, sun roof.

They were actually a bit of a sales flop in the UK for Mercedes,LHD and at £58,949 over 10k more than a BMW E34 M5! the market Mercedes was targeting,so no wonder only a tiny number were ever sold officially.Only in recent years have folk cottened on to how good they actually are.As R129 said spec does'nt vary much between cars depending on which market they were intended for,all come with the same basic kit.

An internal picture of mine. Leather might have been optional as you see them with sports-check/ MB-Tex. Many came with electric rear-blinds.

Conventional air-con I think was standard but climate control an option. Mine also had a fire-extinguisher located at the front base of the driver's seat. Electric heated front seats, sunroof, front and rear armrests, rear seat storage compartment between the seats with sliding compartment cover. Rear reading lights. Volume control for radio/cassette player on central console. Electric wing mirrors and child-lock for electric rear windows. Driver and passenger airbags.

Mine was a 1994 facelift version but as has been said pretty much standard kit.

Quite simply a wonderful car.

Leather was optional in the UK and continental Europe but standard in the US (a lot of cars are coming over from the US, they get the Euro lights but nobody ever swaps out the driver's side knee bolster). I think only one UK car (Rowan Atkinson's) came with the (absolutely lovely) sports check cloth but it is seen a bit more on European cars.

Air con likewise was standard worldwide, apart from in the US where they all came with climate.

Metallic paint I think was a no cost option. The most handsome 500 E I have ever seen was 904 solid midnight blue over blue leather. But taste is a matter of taste.

I'm pretty sure the other options were stuff like town and country horns, Webasto pre-heater, trip computer (not the UK), tow bar with removable neck, sump guard, passenger airbag, seat position memories.

Definitely had cruise on mine as you can see.

Whether it was standard I don't know.

As has been said these were approaching £60,000 cars in the early '90s but as we know Daimler Benz were very adroit at loading the extras list back then.

ps. Just checked advertised cars at Car and Classic, Four Star Classics and Avantgarde and all the cars had cruise control

UK pricelist, 1991.

But in other markets, other stuff was available and the standard spec may have been different; and most cars are from other markets.

One of the blokes at work is selling his. It has a specialist hand built straight through exhaust (no cats) ... how will that affect MOT and emissions. Does it become a problem?

Dale,

Any interest in parting with your E500? Sold mine to my brother and always fancied a 1994.

Regards,

Bill
