2005 ML320 CDI issues

Hi All,
My Dad is looking for a replacement for his December 2005 ML320 CDI and has been offered £5k PartEx from a place that has a car he likes.
He's given me a heads up and would pass it on to me for that if he goes for this other car as it seems a low(ish) figure.
It's fully specced up with 118k miles on it - he's kept it in good nick and it drives well. He's kept on top of any maintenance including a drivetrain judder that came up a while back.
Initial research would say that the price is good compared to the market but I'm more concerned of a big bill around the corner and reliability - it would be an only car and I'm on Mountain Rescue call out.
Any experiences would be most appreciated.
