At £50k it's clearly the top of the market, but
i. one can always bid
ii. it's not much more than this achieved a couple of years ago:

You'd do better bidding for this, with a rather low estimate.

With that one much depends how how well the recent structural corrosion ("offside rear suspension component mounting prescribed area is excessively corroded In corner of inner wheel arch") was repaired in the short time between the MOT fail and the subsequent MOT pass. Hopefully it wasn;t just a glop of underseal and a change of MOT station. At the right price it makes a tempting restoration project.

I have got the same car with 43,000km from new in lhd. Smoke silver, black interior, one owner from new before me. Euro car (not japanese or US). Full 300ps decat version. I certainly would not let it go for less than £50k.Lowtimer said:
Quite possibly. Similarly, the amount of money it would take to persuade me to sell any of my cars is pretty high.
But neither you nor I want to sell our cars, and on the face of it we have to assume the bloke in the advert does.
Just look at what Germans pay for top quality w126, r107, w124 500e... the 560sec is a very, very special car and there are extremely few left in their original conditions. But neither you nor I want to sell our cars, and on the face of it we have to assume the bloke in the advert does.
Every formula 1 driver of the era had one which tells you something.
An intergalagtic mileage porsche 964 commands £50k, a crappy pagoda (trust me i have seen dozens) often advertised for £100k, an average 993 c2s approaches £100k etc....
I think a super mint low miles 560sec is actually a lot of car for £50k. I often drove mine back to back with a bentley conti gt and the merc whilst 20 years older is more refined, better built, better finished and more comfortable.
I am talking with a degree experience since i owned all the above cars. A good sec is at least as good as any of them if not better. Germans figured it out already, the uk will eventually come to it..

So i'm told the rear screen is NLA from MB, by 2 different sources, Edward Hall and MercedesMark
Bit of time this afternoon researching, suggests Pilkington offer a replacement rear screen, circa 280 Euros, plus shipping (quoted via a german parts reseller https://www.originparts.de/?lang=1 )
"Pilkington have stock of this windscreen for MERCEDES 280-500 SEC W126 CPE 10/81-02/92; GREEN HEATED; OE PART NR.: A1266701680.
Item price will be 285,50 Euro ex works. Delivery time to us is approx. 5-7 working days."
Have emailed Pilkington UK to confirm - somewhat mad at myself for passing on a minty genuine used item earlier this year thinking they were still available from MB.
ETA - these guys also do one, but don't deliver outside of Austria

Will be taking the car up to Edward next week for new screen, seal and tidy up of the interior above the rear screen.
In the meantime, have been busy cleaning out all 4 wheel arches with Surfex HD and coating liberally with Dynax UC wax. Will hopefully keep any rust potential at bay, especially around the leading edge of the front wings which have a ready and willing rust trap just waiting to cause mischief.
I bought myself a LS400 last week so will look to keep the SEC off the mean streets of north London over the winter.

The one in the advert is now down to £39,995 I note. When it comes down another £5K I'll go to see it.Lowtimer said:

I saw that today. I think it's a good deal for what it is. If i did not have mine (which is nearly identical), i would be there in a flash.2 things i don't like on this car though: the non flush wheel bolts and the after market head-unit which looks awful. Becker or nothing in that car!
