New one on ebay today with 178,000 miles curiously priced at £8,888...

Its cause isn't helped by it being white.

The mileage wouldn't bother me at all, in fact I'd see it as a positive, but white is a bit of a kiss of death for me.

Now relisted;

Originally listed as an auction with a £150 start price, now listed as £5000 classified ad ! I'll be amazed if its worth £5k as it stands. Vendor is the same.
Looks rather unloved though doesn't it? I'd agree that it'll be well worth 2 grand. I wouldn't pay anywhere near 5 for it, but someone might want the interior or other parts.

Seems a shame to strip it, but you'd need to buy it very cheap to make it worthwhile doing much work.

I'm glad that the thread has developed legs, but for accuracy's sake I ought to mention that I've sadly sold my SEC 560 that was at the top of page 1. Luckily it's gone to a PHer so I strongly suspect its life and the ownership experience will continue to be chronicled.

For any non-owners following the thread, I can very strongly recommend them to anyone that's after a hairy-chested coupé; they really are hugely competent and charismatic machines.

Bronze over Brazil - to some it will look like a rolling turd but to others every right-thinking person it is the pinnacle of sophistication.

Minor correction.

That car looks super.

That is nice, plus the history too.
That is nice, but the cheesy ad is significantly off-putting. What a bell.

It's a personal thing but I couldn't consider a car of this nature in fire-engine red

Normally I wouldn't, but some time ago the MB club had a gathering of these at MB World and I actually liked it in that colour in the flesh.
I expected to dislike it, but don't. Whilst it wouldn't be my first choice, it does look striking and if you want a good one of these you're not exactly spoiled for choice.
