Hello, would somebody be kind enough to tell me, with all the seats folded down, how long and wide is the interior load space of the long wheelbase R Class? Could one get an 8'x4' sheet inside and use it as a posh van? I need a reasonable tow car but if it could take building materials it would be a bonus.

Thank you.

Not quite 8' x 4', however you could get a 7'3" x 4'4" sheet in...
R-class LWB is by far the most spacious estate or MPV we've found. 10% longer load length than any E-class estate, with almost 50% more rear legroom, and much wider than any Superb estate. Test drive one, and then compare it with anything else more van-like or less spacious inside. We love ours.

That is very helpful, thank you Sir. I've always loved the idea of them, they have so much going for them, and a bargain now. My list is either...

Range Rover 2003'ish, Disco 3, Nissan navara (or whatever it is) A8 4.2 or the R. The *only* issue I have with the R is the 2100Kg towing limit, but I think I will forgive it that.

What determines the towing limit I wonder? The R is nice and heavy, powerful and based on the M Class if I'm right? It must be OK tow a little over that?
