Is it still Super-unleaded only for these cars? Certainly was in my CLK63 and that was a factor to be borne in mind too if using the car as an everyday tool.

Hi guys,

Currently looking at going the same route as the OP but in more of a C63S Coupe flavour... does anybody know if the rear seats fold flat in the Coupe?

Picked up the C63 today - bit knackered after long Mway journey back, but i am totally blown away by it. I'll elaborate in the next day or so, but initial impression/feelings is that this car is simply phenomenal - ride, noise, drama, speed/acceleration, responsiveness, build quality, comfort, feel , breadth of driving modes, steering and brakes - all simply incredible.

ps. re fuel, i asked if UL could be put in and the answer was yes. I always use Tesco 99 or Shell V power, but i wanted to know for when i'm in places like Wales/Scotland etc. On the filler cap it says 98 RON and in brackets (95) . The manual says 98 should be used but 95 can be used as a temporary measure and where possible full throttle should be avoided. It adds that in emergencies 91 can be used.

Not tried the C63S, but have spoken to someone who has one, who recanted that they didn't think the extra money was worth the extra few bhp. I merely mention this on the off-chance you get to try and both and would be interested in your feedback.

OP - good work, sounds like you're going to enjoy it! The thing that struck me when I first got mine was the power of the brakes - awesome stopping power.

Hi OP,

Great to hear you got the car and great to also see still plenty of daily C63s about with all the electric talk these days.

You've answered your question about fuel now but just to say I often head out to Wales and there's usually a shell or tesco close enough (Shell at Betws-y-coed, and tesco in Anglesey, both have the correct fuel)

Also for the others running the old 6.2 lump like me, I never see over 20 unless it's on a motorway run, even then 25 is usually good..I blame the sound!

Also I'm running 19s and did consider getting some 18s for winter but been through a set of Contis, and now trying the Goodyear eagle F1s, wet grip is noticeably better and my traction light has stopped flashing every corner smile also ride seems slightly less harsh then before but could be my imagination.

OP get a picture up!smile

I don't think I've ever seen more than 24mpg on motorway (even in Belgium or Holland with 120-130km/h speed limit). Driving in suburbs resulted in 16-17mpg. Never did real city driving on daily basis. That's for 6.2l car.

Will put some pics up in the next few days. Also i'll give my 2 cents worth on how i'm finding it, which may be of some use for those looking into buying one.

Only mod i'm likely to do for now, is get it de-chromed. It's black with mat black cross spoke rims, and i think de-chrome, probably via a wrap will improve the looks (subjective i know).

Cheers

Nick

To anyone that thinks the new 4.0tt c63 sounds good, go listen to a proper engined m156 c63.

@BigR I haven't been able to drive either of the Coupe's yet but have driven the S and none S saloon back to back at Mercedes world on track and i have to totally agree... i could not tell the difference. Probably because i'm not good enough, or that 45 mins in each car on track is just not long enough to know either car well enough to tell the difference.

I think if it was just the Diff and extra power I wouldn't have gone for the S but when you take into account the seats and some of the other options it starts to make more sense (Paying the extra for the S makes some of the other options fall in price) the monthly payments work out about the same when you look at the finance.

I have less than seven days to make up my mind if i want one, i'm still on the fence (even though i know i can afford it i always worry about this kind of stuff, the M3 Comp pack is still a contender but the mercedes is just so V8!)

Yes - unbelievable. They put the M4 and even the GT-R to shame. I intend to do a decent write up when I have time, but briefly for now, having had a good few days of varied driving I can honestly say this car is simply incredible. In a nut shell, it's everything i thought my M4 (such a disappointment!) was going to be,,, plus about 50% better, in every aspect. Unlike older generations of AMG cars, this one really handles brilliantly, which means its the complete package. I was at DefCon 1 on some great roads in the Cotswolds where TG do some filming - it was truly epic, especially with everything in Sport+ and TC partially off. I'm also pleasantly surprised that it gets very +ve attention - people love it and invariably talk about the sound it makes ( i wasn't sure if black was a bit too gangster, but someone stopped me in the car park today to say how great it looked). Only thing i'll get done is have it de-chromed.

A few quick pics...

Hi Nick

I have current C63 Saloon and previously the 6.3n/a coupe (so miss it 😢) And have used them as daily drives for past 4 years. Must say they are brilliant in terms of use-ability and performance / fun. The only concerns is in the depths of winter when the back end gets a bit twitchy but same as any rear wheel drive BMW etc. Can be improved by winter tyres or consider a C45 4 wheel drive if you live somewhere really cold but not quite the same as the 63.

I am picking up my 2014 C63 wagon next week... can't wait! Black, with the 19 inch wheels, and tan interior - looks lovely. Merc gave me 24 months warranty on it too, which takes a lot of the bork-factor fears away.

I would have to agree, the braking system on the SLK55 is similar and there are few cars that can get close, even those cars that are faster. The brakes look great too vs the TT, F-type offerings etc. (bigger, slotted etc. etc.).

great news, you're going to love it...had my 2012 estate 15 months ago now, tan leather will look pretty cool, had it in my XFR before the C63 and really loved it, don't see many tan leather ones. All the best!

The interior really is striking. One of the reasons I chose that car. Picking it up Friday this week now....

Edit - interior looks the same as this:
