Thinking of buying a C63 V8 estate which would be family car and my wife would drive regularly.
Thing is she isn't a petrolhead and I'm just a little concerned she won't like the car much as a daily driver. So wondered if any owners can comment as to how their wives enjoy driving theirs/any issues?

Sounds like the best course of action is to take one for a test drive and make sure she is happy with it.

Not owned a C63 but generally as long as my car has had good visibility and power steering my wife has enjoyed them - she also likes it when I pay for the fuel.
She'll be fine.

Why would she not? She doesn't have to floor it everywhere. Perfectly acceptable daily driver, for any driver, as long the fuel bills are of no concern.

My wife would find a car like that too big. She prefers smaller cars that are easier to reverse into parking spaces.

Can't see any reason why she wouldn't like driving it. To someone with no interest in cars, it's no different to drive than a C180. Good visibility, very smooth gearbox, tight turning circle, etc.

I have a c63 estate. My wife drove it more than me. Now she has stollen my lease golf gti and prefers that. She did however like the automatic gearbox and electrically closing boot. She isn't a girl racer but appreciates certain cars.

There was a c63 rolling road day article on here a few years ago. Some of the owners were saying their partners wouldn't drive the car. My wife said exactly that until she drove it, then I couldn't get the keys off her.

Which is unrelated to the fact it's a C63.

Whether OP's missus is a petrolhead or not won't alter her ability to cope with the physical size of the car.

Historically speaking my other half never wants to drive my cars, usually because of size. Then she does and she loves them to bits. I had a 645i for a while which she eventually drove and loved, about a fortnight before I sold it.

How tall is the GF? My step mother is very short and does have issues with some cars because of visibility.

Fair point.

My wife has driven many large cars over years - Previa, Galaxy etc

Question more related to the BHP than the physical size of the car!

It's a very powerful engine (both BHP and particularly torque) if you aren't ready for it. If its wet and you're not aware you'll be constantly nudging the traction control. It's hilarious, and a great car, but I can see why non car people might get frustrated with it.

I can't see why the power would be an issue. Yes the C63 is a very high performance car, but it won't go fast unless the driver makes the conscious decision to drive it in that manner.

It's just as easy to drive at sensible speeds as a C180.

Cant see how its power would make any difference. Its just an automatic Merc.

It won't bite either. The traction control kicks in very early. I find big v8 autos a relaxing drive too.

My wife drives my 204 C63 quite regularly (especially as we've just had a baby and she spent the last nine months as my deso-driver). Believe it or not, in comfort mode it is a very relaxed drive, acceleration is dulled down and the gears shift up at 1500 revs if you're gentle, so there isn't that much noise either. I did make her drive it in S+ once but we were kangarooing around like anything, so it wasn't repeated wink

Obviously you'll find this out for yourself on a test drive, but it really is quite civilised when driven gently - you do have to provoke it to make it the lairy beast it longs to be biggrin

It is a fantastic car to own so I'd really encourage you to go find out. Have no idea what I'd ever replace it with when I need something bigger

Happy to answer more specific questions if you have any OP

All my wife is concerned about is where the heated seat control is. She wouldn't know a v8 engine from the 3 pot in her Focus.

My OH had a C63 & loved it (she still misses it now) she had no problems driving it in fact her biggest problem was keeping a clean license biglaugh she only kerbed the alloys once she was so pissed with herself I didn't have to say a word.
