Wish i could have justified the cost of a lhd but i cant, none of my other rhd Cars bother me, so fingers crossed.

Picking her up then travelling to the Nurburgring and through black forest should get rid of that lockdown feeling smile

Love the contrast of the dark grey with the light interior. Great spec. Enjoy that drive and welcome to the GT club smile.

Its incredible, just done a 1000km in her and it does the Jekyll and hyde very well, Jekyll better than hyde probably..

I think i’ll want to soften the springs tbh, a complaint many journos have had.

wandering if the std GT springs will fit? I tested the std car on ride control and was happy with that so maybe this is a solution, the C Is stiffer and sits lower though so maybe bottoming out could be a problem on std springs?

I see KW and HR do spring sets and complete set ups so have contacted them re a softer set up, i know it is not their bag normally so it’ll be interesting to see the response.

I'm thinking its height and limited range of movement will be the issue, i dont mind lifting it 10mm or so and setting up geo accordingly to suit if possible.. i used to play with suspension eons ago but for totally different reasons smile

I absolutely love the car and plan on keeping a longntime so willing to put the £ and effort in to getting the sweet spot right for me.

i’m not saying she’s unbearable, i took Its biggest critic out last night (my wife) and she said it was fine so maybe its just my fatigue of the last couple of days skewing my perspective..

While i recover from the blast down, i’ll make enquiries.. i’ll also do some more evaluating on a local basis once ive slept some..

Tbh, if i didnt change anything then id still be keeping it a very long time as i love everything else SO much! cant wait to get her on track as i think she’ll shine here even more..

Firstly I wanted to see how it was when i was rested, its better, or more correctly my ability to assess is better and my tolerance is higher

Secondly i thought i’d check the tire pressures, 45psi all round ffs! Now lowered to the bottom end of the scale, 32R & 30F, yet to test but imagining it’ll make quite a difference, or it has in the past, side walls are 35 profile so not super low, will report back..

that can do a lot, but a bit more 'rubbery' I guess.
did the GTC not get the suspension of the GTR? not sure though...

also, is the original suspension under the car? also the springs?

Defo original suspension, dont think its the same set up as GTR, stiffness sits between the GTR & the S.

I’m in the middle of a euro trip in her and its perfectly comfortable, its an incredible car, the best ive owned but the most expensive so i guess it should be, more than happy.

Track days next so we’ll see if theres any short fall there, Renntech are by the ring so i’ll probably make this my first visit..

Love its rear, super wide and boat looking, didnt have any trouble threading it through the tight streets of the cote d’azur though, you get comfortable with where it sits very quickly, i’ve had 1” a side Spare in some instances and was fine with confidence.

Thanks to the experiences you’ve shared on here I cancelled my 911 order and got a GT 476 instead - a compromise in terms of spec, but it makes up in terms of style and noise - and a at a great price too (I think anyway)

Can I ask owners about manually raising the spoiler? Is it supposed to go down after 30-60 seconds on the move or do I have a fault? (The automatic movement at speed seems to work fine)

Thank you for your insights

Should stay up, you need to hold the button down until fully raised, likewise with lowering

Yeah - one touch and it’ll deploy fully, or lower fully, but annoyingly it won’t stay up. It drops after a couple of minutes at the most, regardless of drive modes or speed. Others have suggested it should stay in sport or sport plus, or press and hold etc. If you’re saying it’s supposed to stay raised then I might risk taking it back. 🤔

Beautiful! Really REALLY like these. I have a TVR Griffith and the AMG is like a 21st century version of the same car. One day...

I came from a 4.3 t350 and the gts is very much like a more modern TVR, very much a muscle car.

Thought the same, TVR background here to, everything the tvr had plus the extra bits you always wanted.

Looking forward to seeing how it behaves on track..

If the online reviews from evo, top gear and Chris Harris are anything to go by its very good.

AMG tell me it’s a revision to the facelift models. You can raise it manually ‘for cleaning’ but if you want to drive with it up it’s via the automatic function only, ie above 75mph. Seems a bit of an odd change to make, unless it’s to stop failure, but there we go. I just wanted to know whether it was working as intended. Thanks for your insight

Very good, well balanced, very adjustable at limit, brakes never faltered in 25 min sessions (small track, hard driving), quick enough to pass most things on the straight (bar a nissan gtr)

Negative? Lacks a bit of feel at wheel but turn in very good, neutral when off throttle at turn in, even trailing brakes into corner, the back was still planted. Tyres were crap and were overheating by 3rd or 4th lap, even when at normal temperatures though, there was no way i could stay with a Nssan GTR on cup 2s, some of it was driver, some track knowledge and car familiarity but the tyres grip difference was significant.

Ive never fitted track / road tyres to a road car but i think this car would benefit immensely as its capabilities seemed far greater than the tyres were allowing, what do they fit to the AMG gtr?

That aside, brilliant bloody fun smile

So I’m still looking and feeling like pulling the trigger very soon. However, most listings on Autotrader don’t state number of previous owners, service history etc, which is annoying .
I’m want to buy at the lower end of the market, £50-£65k.

I’m also finding it difficult to find what options were available for models around 2016. Were there different suspension options and more specifically, was air suspension ever an option?

Also, I’m a bit concerned that models around 40k miles will probably need new brake pads, discs and a major service soon after purchase, which will no doubt be a big expense.

If anyone can find any good examples for sale etc, please feel free to post.

The selectable suspension was definitely an option (according to Exeter Mercedes)

I tested with and without, wouldn’t have without after testing back to back but we wanted it for touring as well as track, even with it, I’m changing the springs to Renntech’s progressive ones as std is over sprung imo but that’s the ‘C’ derivative which has stiffer springs than the std GT and ‘S’ model, think it has same springs as GTR actually, to be fair they are the right spring rate for the firmest damper setting ie track.

Car is booked in for the free grille mod by Mercedes to give better protectIon to the oil coolers, a silly original design imo.
