Me!! Just got one....

Its in need of restoration. So far we have stripped most of it down... but I need some advice which is why I'm looking on this thread.

What do do:
Acid dip + E coat @ £1800 (heard lots of horror stories!!!!!!!!!!)
Media blasting coating @ 1800 (seems safe as houses, but i dont see how they can get into cavities)
Sand blasing from £500 (much cheaper, seems to leave rougher surface and harsh on metal?)

Has anyone got any info on these processes?

Thanks a lot.

P.s colour + interia... looking at pearl white with black leather. Not a merc colour but hey... should be special.

We are going with Media blasting as its kindest to the car and wont wreck any lead thats on the car... it also sont distort the car like dipping.

any comments/thoughts welcome.

When I got my first Merc (W123 280E) the dealer at Watford had one in the showroom with approved used warranty this was in about 1999. Very pretty cars.

Have an R107 300SL which I am about to start restoring. Will probably start a thread / blog when I am underway.

Bit of a late reply sorry! Well the work is slow but steady. The car is due to be painted in around 1 month so I'm excited about that.

I'll start another thread about this car and see if there is any interest for these classics on PH!

Thanks,

Stu
