Hi,

I'm looking at a CLS on autotrader that has pretty much the specification I'm looking for, except that the colour is cubanite silver. The photos are pretty poor and it looks like it has a slight gold tint to it.

Can anyone describe this colour to me as its a long way away and I don't want to waste my time if I'm likely to hate the colour (I HATE GOLD CARS!)

Many thanks

Cubanite is a 'pale silver grey gold' and is a reasonable good selling colour.
If your not sure, see the colour at your local Merc agent.

Mark.

IMO it is more a warm grey metallic than a gold. Certainly it is a lot mor silver grey than my smoke silver. It seems to have been quite a popular colour over the last few years. You will know it when you see it.

Of course, you could just google "cubanite mercedes": http://images.google.co.uk/images?q=cubanite%20mer...

My ML is cubanite and I wouldn't say it was gold

It is a nice alternative to silver more of a champagne colour than gold.

It is very popular with the older/retired MB owner (my wife calls it "old man gold"!) although I can't ever remember seeing a CLS in it so I guess that particular car/colour combo is a little bit more rare!

Not keen on it myself and I decided against an in-stock GL420 because of the colour but then I prefer the blacks and blues in the MB range. As another PHer said, it is more of a champagne colour and certainly not the traditional gold. To me it's one of those "love it or hate it" colours so I'd certainly see a sample before discounting it completely.

Pop to you local MB dealer - they will probably have a used/demo car in that colour or, failing that, they should have a large colour sample inside.

it's known in the trade a "Jewish Racing Gold" and it's a top seller.........................in Jerusalem.

It's definitely a metallic beige....

I don't actually mind it, think it looks OK on the Estates and MLs and not too bad on the CLS.

Hmmmmm! Think I'll drop into a Merc stealer and see if they have a cubanite car for sale.
Thanks all!

I wish this wasn't so important but unfortunately it is, MB dealers seem reluctant for anyone to leave the showroom without a silver or black car (I was in my dealership last week and the showroom looked so dull with 20 demonstrators all in black or silver) so cubanite silver is a 'way out' choice for those that don't want iridium silver but also don't want the dealer to spit in their face when they trade the car in down the line.

My car is cubanite silver, I'd describe it as bronze, but definitely not gold. It's ok and looks good on my E estate in my opinion, one great things about it is the way it hides dirt, the car can be pretty filthy and it still looks good.

I've just seen three cubanite silver Mercedes in Sleaford - 2 E-class and one CLS. Whilst the E-class didn't really look anything special I must admit the CLS did look pretty good! Definitely a metallic fawn/tan colour ...

Glad we got that sorted, it's a silvery goldish pale grey smokey champagney bronze, with beige, fawn and tan hues.
