Currently looking at buying the above car for the other half.

Is there anything to look out for, or any major issues I should be aware of?

We've seen one with just 20k on the clock, a 53 plate, with auto box.

Are there any owners forums which are worth a look at?

As above, look on the MB forum.

The main thing to look for is probably the Valeo issue (ATF heat exchanger cross-contaminating with engine coolant) and rust.

The facelifted cars, from mid-2004, are generally considered a lot better.

Don't know an awful lot about them myself, but as said above go for a facelift model (which a 53-plate won't be) and check out the MB forums.

Aye - Mrs Orb(s) has a 2002 model and the rust is appalling. Shame cos it's otherwise a lovely car.
