Hello there!

Just purchased a mercedes 190E yesterday 2.0 manual, drove it home (100 miles)and it drove realy well, however this morning i went to start it from
cold and it fired then cut out it took about a minute to start it
but now its warm starts fine?

Have any of you experienced this?

Cheers

I have had the same trouble with my 190e suggest checking the cold start valve which is under the air cleaner. But if that is not the trouble it is most likly be a relay,That was the fault with mine.
Renewed relay had no trouble since.
Best of luck.

That sounds a little unusual. Did it fail to start or fail to idle? Usually fail to idle is more common and can be down to vacuum pipes or just the idle control valve amongst other things. THey don't usually fail to start except when the fuel pump relay fails and that's an on/off failure - it's either starts a bit or not at all. It won't cause a running fault. That could be your problem if it's random when it happens.

over voltage protection relay. fuse is there and often blows on jump starting apparently.

Bit off from the original topic - but if anyone is into 190's

The latest Merc Enthusiast magazine came out today (3rd Friday in month).

Included is an article on a 190D. Not what you expect.

The classic bodywork. A brand new latest Blue Efficiency diesel engine. Speed and economy.

Looks great and I haven't had chance to finish the article yet.

Nip down to your nearest WH Smith for a copy.
