Hi

Considering one of these (currently have an e90 M3 saloon which I'm thinking of switching out of for various reasons) - any buying tips, what is the service interval and average service costs. Also I'm assuming they chew through a set of tyres a couple of times a year!

Also how reliable are they, eg electrical gremlins, any major watch outs, any key options that I should look out for...

Cheers

Hi,

I've just picked up a new one, so my info is limited, but tires you are looking at 6-7000 miles for a set of rears.

Service is annual or 12k (roughly) miles. but no idea on price, sorry.

As for technical issues, I did a bit or research, as I always do, and found nothing at all! A real surprise. Don#t know if it is because they are so rare, or because they are just that good! But the only complaints/issues all related to the wear-rate of the rear tyres. But having just come out of a mkII Focus RS that went through a set of fronts in 6k miles, it seems to be becoming the norm for modern, heavy, high-performance car rubber.

Performance Pack or LSD - can't imagine driving one with an open differential.

Main thing I have found is the vast difference in price people are asking for them.

Ive seen three 09-59 plate cars without PP and the prices ranged from £46500 to £49700 and there are others out there nearer £55k.....

Cant get a grip on what people are asking for them and I thought originally there were more punters looking for C63's than actual cars but that doesnt appear to be the case right now.

hmm - prices are a little all over the place, also interestingly though, the residuals seem to be better than for the E90 M3 - don't know if that something that will continue to be the case, even though there seem to be quite a few more C63 saloons out there than E90 M3 saloons...

A few seem to be at specialists, I'm assuming this is because they offer a better trade in for sellers than the main stealers... part of me always thinks (in some cases misguidedly) that buying a ~1yr old from a main stealer is safer...

I have also been informed that the C class is due for a slight 'facelift' soon to include daytime running lights (a la E Class) and some other superficial tweaks...

Could impact the secondhand prices slightly?

This is true, that all C-Class apart from the C63, can be optioned with the LED daylight running light. I specifically held off my C63 order hoping for LED light. But in the end they said that all C-Class bar the C63 will get them! The C63 facelift is the optional new Performance Pack Plus, which is a 5K option.

Having gone through the process, I would say that C63 residuals are higher than the M3 purely for the fact that they are so hard to get hold of as new cars. If you order one today you woul be lucky to get a build slot before August...
