Apart from the noise I preferred the diesel; back in 2012 when I got the first one I test drove both 250s. Funny you should say about your mum's economy, but some good friends of ours had the petrol and complained endlessly about it's dreadful economy (in fact that's why I got an R172 as I liked theirs so much). They've now swapped to the CDI and love it.

On a run I get 60+ mpg and the worst I'll see (eg. like the weekend before last when I was hammering it round Wales) was 43.

Going to work I get numbers like this....





It really is cheap as chips to run, and still goes really well; my previous car was an R230 SL500 and I don't really notice the loss in performance. I do notice not having to fill up all the time though.

It is not her SLK, it is a loaner while her A Class is in at Merc.
I really, really like it though and have been spying contract hire deals on them, thinking of maybe swapping the 2.8i Z3 for one.
Is it quiet with the hood up, the only thing that annoys me on the Z?

I was looking at swapping the ML for something like a Q5 or X3, but really do love the old bus, so swapping the Z3 might be a better option.

Beautiful. Which colour is that? It doesnt look like the normal white. Could be the sun though.

That's a good question!
It's like a pearlescent colour, which tends to change subtley depending upon the light.
I thought it might be a Designo colour but I found out this morning that it was silver when it left the factory, so someone in the past has spent rather a lot of money to make it look like that.
